Yesterday evening, Kenya Red Cross received a humanitarian aid consignment from the Government of Slovakia through @SlovakAid at JKIA.
CS for Tourism and Wildlife Rebecca Miano, who expressed her deep respect for the work of Kenya Red Cross, attended the handover alongside the Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic, Juraj Blanár and Slovak Ambassador to Kenya Maroš Mitrík.
The consignment, comprising medical rescue (trauma) bags and foldable camping beds, was received by Kenya Red Cross Deputy Secretary General–Programmes Joe Mbalu.
Speaking during the handover, H.E. Juraj Blanár commended Kenya Red Cross for its humanitarian work and commitment to supporting vulnerable communities.
Receiving the donation, Joe Mbalu expressed gratitude to the Government and people of Slovakia for their support, noting that the assistance was being received on behalf of the people and communities served by Kenya Red Cross across the country.

27 critically injured casualties were evacuated to Sultan Hamud Sub-County Hospital following a major road traffic incident involving a truck, a bus, two private vehicles and a motorcycle at Salama on the Mombasa–Nairobi Highway last night.

Across Kenya, the March-May rains have affected 85,993 households across 41 counties, displacing 18,587, with 355 water sources destroyed and 38,955 acres of crops wiped out.
In the Tana Delta, entire villages are cut off. Miliki, Majaliwa and Onido are fully marooned. Water levels at Idsowe Bridge remain high, worsening downstream flooding. Farms are submerged. Livelihoods are gone.
Response teams have reached 2,722 households with emergency household items and hygiene support but many areas remain inaccessible.

A mass casualty road traffic incident involving an overturned PSV has occurred along Enterprise Road in Industrial Area, opposite Nairobi Prison.
Kenya Red Cross emergency response teams are on the scene providing first aid and evacuation support to those affected.
Last night, Kenya Red Cross responded to a school fire at Tarakwo High School in Bomet County. This is now the fifth fire incident since the tragic Utumishi Girls Academy fire.
Since the beginning of the year, Kenya Red Cross has responded to 37 school fire incidents across multiple counties.
While thankfully no casualties were reported last night, these ongoing incidents remind us how urgent school fire prevention and safety measures are.

Earlier today, the Kenya Red Cross, together with multi-agency partners, responded to a fire at St. Joseph Seminary Boys School in Nakuru County.
The fire was contained by the Timsales Company Fire Brigade, Nakuru County Disaster Response Team and Kenya Red Cross first responders.
Two dormitories (86-bed capacity) were destroyed.
No casualties or fatalities were reported.
