Launched my startup on Product Hunt today.
Within hours, I started receiving paid promotion offers.
Nothing wrong with marketing, but it made me think.
What happens to genuinely good products built by people who can't afford promotion?
That's one reason I'm building IndieDex.
A place for creators, developers, artists, musicians and indie founders to showcase their work and get discovered.
We're working toward verified participation, genuine community rankings and keeping paid promotions separate from organic discovery.
Good work deserves a chance, even without a marketing budget.

@topphamilia And on top of it you get your own page which you can use as link in bio with all of your creations or products along with all your social link and can highly customise your page.
At this point, โLetโs connectโ is basically my entire marketing strategy ๐
Until this account gets big enough to say โThanks for K followers,โ you guys are stuck with my โLetโs connectโ posts.
So yeah... letโs connect ๐ค๐

Exactly what I'm thinking too. Paid promotions might bring a temporary spike, but organic discovery is what I'm aiming for with IndieDex. Since we cover creators, products, games, rankings and more, there's a huge opportunity to build long-term search traffic. Just need to execute it right.
@SSShken It's good like nothing to complain 3-4 upvotes . But I did gain new 12 users today so the count is 38 users within 4 days now . Yes they all are on free plans but I'll say good enough start.
That's actually one of the biggest challenges I'm working on. I already have document verification for users to get their blue tick, but that only proves they're real people, votes can still be paid. So I'm thinking of something different. For the first 24-48 hours, new launches will be visible within IndieDex but public rankings won't be shown. People can still share their links and get support, but I'm also thinking of showing launches randomly to verified platform users so everyone gets a fair chance. Rankings could consider both community votes and feedback from people who discovered the product independently, rather than just total votes. I'm also exploring ways to detect groups of accounts that keep voting together across different launches. Even verified users won't automatically be trusted. I know we can't stop paid voting completely, but we can make it very very hard and expensive to manipulate. Still thinking of stronger ways, especially ones that won't hurt genuine new creators.

I've actually been building and sharing my work too. Recently launched LinesClash and IndieDex, both are live now. The hard part isn't building anymore, it's getting people to notice what you've built. That's where the let's connect strategy comes in. But yeah, you're right, I should share more of the actual work too.
