I learned more after residency than I did in residency. In residency, I mostly learned diagnosis and what treatments patients needed. After residency, I learned how to partner successfully with patients to achieve successful outcomes. Learning from continuity is critical. You need to adjust your methods to the real world and the real patient. This is not in textbooks or on board exams. The theoretical 100% obedient patient doesn't exist.
