Russia’s foreign recruitment pipeline often starts with a harmless-looking job ad and ends with a military contract.
An EEAS investigation traced the infrastructure behind that journey: AI-generated adverts, fake recruitment agencies, disposable domains, WhatsApp channels and at least 35 multilingual websites targeting people across Africa, Asia and Latin America.
The investigation produced a measurable result: Meta removed 78 of the 85 identified ads, cutting access to potential recruits and exposing how the network operated.
