This is an important and precedent-setting win for our client, Julia Ormond. We look forward to proving her claims and showing how CAA, Disney, and Miramax enabled Harvey Weinstein's predatory conduct.
Gov. Hochul had the chance to stand up for meaningful accountability for systemic workplace harassment. Instead, she's using tax-payer $ to protect her serial-harassing predecessor.
Do you stand with survivors or not, Governor?
Statement of Douglas Wigdor and Kevin Mintzer regarding the Supreme Court Purdue Pharma case as it relates to Harvey Weinstein bankruptcy:
We fought against the nonconsensual releases given to the directors of the Weinstein Company. Unfortunately, we did not receive the support of the New York Attorney General, who backed the sweetheart deal given to the men who enabled Harvey Weinstein. Today’s Supreme Court decision validates what we had said all along: the free pass provided to directors of the Weinstein Company at the expense of sexual assault survivors was a great travesty of our judicial system.
Grateful to be on Julia's team representing her in this important case. There has not been anything close to sufficient accountability for Harvey Weinstein's many corporate enablers. @WigdorLaw
Julia Ormond, the English actress best known for her roles in ’90s films such as “Legends of the Fall,” is suing Harvey Weinstein for sexual battery. She is additionally suing CAA, The Walt Disney Company and Miramax. https://t.co/UfgpStTXUv
Glad that the Albany political world is recognizing what we at #TeamGounardes have long known - that my Chief of Staff @ToriBurhans is a true star. Congratulations Tori on being named as a @CityAndStateNY Rising Star!

Today I took an important step toward seeking accountability and moving toward healing. What happened to me at 19 was a catalytic moment for my life’s work. I want to thank the powerful community of survivors who came before me and paved the way. https://t.co/WgIvPRrMnq
New from me: While Andrew Cuomo continues his doomed-to-fail public rehabilitation campaign, one of his victims, Charlotte Bennett is taking it upon herself to hold the serial power abuser and his enablers accountable. https://t.co/KD1VGWJZkp
Silver & the Assembly's argument isn't unique; staffers must constantly fight against this outrageous defense when seeking justice in civil courts.
But @harassment_free has a bill to fix this here in NY, carried by our allies @yuhline & @agounardes: https://t.co/V15DCcbhkv
Since the obituaries don't do it, worth documenting this Sheldon Silver history a bit more. In April 2012, two young women accepted employment with the NYS Assembly to work on the staff of Assemblyman Vito Lopez, who was also the leader of the Democratic party in Brooklyn. 1/8
I have yet to read a single obituary of Sheldon Silver that even mentions the fact that he covered-up systematic abuse, including rape, or that he spent $$$ fighting harassment victims in court claiming they weren't covered by the human rights law.
This all took place before #metoo, so Silver was never punished in any way for his actions with Lopez or the earlier times he had looked the other way while women in the Assembly were abused or raped. 8/8
