I just boarded an @Amtrak train from Chicago to Stl, and I was SHOCKED to see that I’m in a brand new car?? Amtrak got new cars that are so so nice and fresh and clean and beautiful????? I love trains!!!

Ok tbh the *best* thing about this book might be how it invites its reader to examine certain quantitative forms of data (a census record) as a starting point to tell layered historical stories about these abstractions, but like I’m biased!!
