A lot of PS5 owners are becoming interested in jailbreaking their consoles after Sony announced it will stop releasing new PlayStation games on physical discs.
A jailbroken PS5 can run homebrew apps, emulators, and other unofficial software. Players see it as a way to preserve games and keep older titles working in the future if Sony decides to start removing games one day.
Quick note: PSN is region-locked. If you move to a diferent region, you need to start a new account. PlayStation still does not allow account transfers from region to region or even between family members. Example: Father to Son. This is the "all digital" future, and it sucks!

Square Enix has shared its thoughts on game preservation after shareholders asked about the shutdown of NieR Re[in]carnation.
During the company’s annual shareholders meeting, a shareholder asked how Square Enix plans to preserve games after they go offline.
The shareholder also mentioned the fan-made offline version of NieR Re[in]carnation and said the company should do more to preserve its own games.
Square Enix replied that there isn’t one solution that works for every game.
“There is no one-size-fits-all approach. We believe it’s important to find the right way for each title.” It also said it will “continue to find the best way for each title so players can still enjoy them even after online service ends or the story has come to an end.”
