Just watched The Odyssey in the theater... Probably one of the most overhyped movies I've ever seen 😅

The only word that really comes to mind when trying to describe it is "meh". It's not even bad, it's just mostly boring (especially the first two hours) and simply failed to ever get me properly invested.

Expected a lot more after all the hype. Would honestly recommend to skip this one 🫠

I'm gonna have to agree here, I think it's pretty important to check out the source material. Especially for things like The Odyssey. It just puts a lot of things into context and oftentimes gives a much more detailed picture of the story.

Other examples where this holds up is Game of Thrones, Lord of the Rings, Project Hail Mary, The Expanse and many more. You lose a lot when you transition from books to movies and having that extra layer usually makes the movie also more enjoyable imho

I really don't know where the disconnect comes from. But I don't get who people are so obsessed with it. It never got me to care about the fate of him or his men.

Recently I thought Project Hail Mary was a lot of fun and some of my all time classics are Shawshank Redemption, Dead Poets Society and Good Will Hunting. Outside of that the usual superhero Action movies and popcorn stuff

I'm honestly trying to understand why I didn't like it more, given that so many people seem to think it's an absolute masterpiece.

I felt that the different episodes were pretty disconnected and just never made me really care about the fate of him and his men. The sound design was also pretty disappointing to me, which I thought was strange, because it got hyped by some reviewers I watched.

Honestly not sure where the disconnect comes from, but at the end of the day this just isn't a movie I would watch again.

@SharpLines0 @MaxKemeny Not sure what you are talking about? I react passive aggressive to people attacking me for not liking a movie. Not towards the movie itself. Seems like a lot of people like it and if you did good for you. Personally I wouldn't recommend it to friends.

@martiallawre Maybe it just wasn't for me 😅 A lot of people seemed to like it, but my girlfriend and me both came out pretty disappointed. Which honestly surprised me, since I'm a pretty big sucker for greek mythology
