Behind the Thai containers and barbed wire is the Cambodian village of Chok Chey, a disputed area now blocked by Thai forces, leaving residents unable to access their homes and some reporting warning shots when they tried to approach. Cambodia maintains that borders here are defined by existing treaties and international law, while Thailand does not recognize the area as Cambodian, a dispute that continues to leave civilians caught in the middle and cut off from their village.

Imagine you are a Cambodian on your way home from a refugee camp.

The road suddenly ends. A steel container blocks your path. Barbed wire stretches across the land. On nearby rooftops, armed Thai soldiers watch from elevated positions beneath mounted Thai flags.

In the open fields where families once farmed and children played, artillery shells and mortar rounds lie scattered in the dirt.

This is not a battlefield in motion. It is a landscape that has been sealed, controlled, and entrenched—and a home you can no longer call home.

This is how Boeung Trakuon villagers stories end. No justice no peace.

Satellite imagery from January 2, 2026 tells the real story—clear as day. Thai military forces have pushed into Cambodian territory across multiple boundary segments in Banteay Meanchey Province. This is happening after a ceasefire, not before it. As a result, 2,275 families—more than 9,000 people, including women and children—remain displaced, locked out of their homes. This isn’t confusion. This isn’t a dispute. This is occupation.

The blue areas on the map show who’s in control—and it’s Thai forces. The flags mark where shipping containers are stacked into barricades, flying Thai national flags, sealing off land and villages. Behind them are heavily armed Thai military units, entrenched and unmoving. The affected areas include Prey Chan Village (BP 42–43), Boeung Trakuon (BP 33–37), and Chouk Chey Village (BP 46–47). These images are the proof. The ceasefire was ignored. The encroachment is real. And the civilians are paying the price.

Twenty-one years ago, I served as a research assistant for a PhD candidate from Cambridge University. We spent countless hours interviewing generations of guardians who had devoted their lives to protecting Angkor Wat—fathers, sons, and grandsons carrying the same sacred responsibility.

The deeper I went, the more Angkor pulled me in. This place isn’t just stone and history—it’s living consciousness. What struck me most was the moment I learned how Lord Vishnu was moved from the top of the temple and placed at the gate. That single act says everything about the spiritual, political, and civilizational shift of the Khmer Empire. Power moved—but wisdom stayed.

To this day, I keep a framed image of Lord Vishnu from Angkor in my meditation room. It’s not decoration. It’s a reminder. A reminder of who we were when the Khmer Empire was at its peak—and what’s possible when a civilization aligns spirituality, leadership, and purpose.

Heartbreaking to read these accounts from Cambodian soldiers suffering from what they describe as toxic gas exposure in the ongoing border clashes with Thailand. With over 40 lives lost and more than half a million people displaced across both countries, this escalating conflict is creating a severe humanitarian crisis that demands immediate global attention.

Civilians and soldiers alike are bearing the brunt of this violence—families uprooted, access to basic needs disrupted, and medical facilities overwhelmed. Regardless of the allegations and denials, the human suffering is undeniable.

I urge the international community, the UN, ASEAN, and humanitarian organizations like the Red Cross and UNHCR to step in urgently: provide emergency aid, medical support, and safe passage for the displaced. Let's prioritize de-escalation and humanitarian access to prevent further tragedy.

🎯 Independence Day Run Challenge — 72K Turned Into 111KM! 🇰🇭🔥

From 30 October to 9 November 2025, I pushed through low and poor training readiness, sleepless nights, and exhaustion… but I kept running.

Every step was a lesson in energy, mindset, and mastery.
Day after day, I ran — 7KM… 10KM… 22KM… and beyond — learning to fuel my body, manage my energy, and master my mind.

Even on the hardest days — when I felt dizzy, when my kids were sick, when my readiness was poor — I showed up. I learned how to recharge through silence, breath,… not just rest.

And on 9 November 2025, I joined over 3,000 runners from 18 countries at Morodok Techo National Stadium to celebrate Cambodia’s 72nd Independence Day — completing my 9.11K challenge and closing the journey with gratitude, pride, and freedom in my heart.

During the 10K AIA Pink Run, I had the honor to run alongside our Cambodian running legend — the man who always carries the Cambodian flag proudly in every race, from 10K to 42K. 🇰🇭 His spirit reminds me that running is not just about speed or distance… it’s about honor, heart, and contribution.

Beside me is Mr. Seang Sothean, an inspiring runner and mentor whom I asked for advice about my upcoming 42K marathon plan. His encouragement and wisdom continue to guide my journey toward greater endurance — both in running and in life.

Every stride in this race symbolized more than movement.
