Just came across a clip from a school somewhere in Kashmir. Independence Day celebrations held for or by the Waqf Board.

I have a question. Isn’t waqf board a religious body entrusted with serving the Muslim Community. and ideally doing so while uplholding Islamic Values?

Then there is something almost comical about this institution: an organisation built around a religious and communal purpose, yet sitting so comfortably through something you would expect a religious institution to at least question.

It lends its name to celebrations that reduce our children to stage props and performers.

Why is the default way of involving children — and particularly girls — in public celebrations to make them dance to irrelevant songs? Why aren’t our institutions giving them something to think about, create, learn, discuss, build or contribute?

Especially in a place like Kashmir. Which has had a remarkable legacy of people who understood education as a means to enlighten minds, cultivate character and equip people with knowledge and spirituality.

What about the intellectual and cultural legacy of wonderful scholars of the past.

So if it’s an institution whose very existence is tied to religious purpose, you are taksed with deeper work of strengthening the communities spiritually morally, intellectually.

And to be clear: the point is not the children. Children are often simply made to participate in whatever schools and institutions put before them.

Perhaps that is the real tragedy here.

The question is what an institution chooses to facilitate, endorse and place under its own banner.

Tell me when you fall sick, will you ask the doctor’s category or their competence? This is not social justice.
This is the systematic killing of merit and a direct threat to healthcare quality.
Reservation was meant to uplift not to overpower. Correct imbalance? Yes.
Create a new injustice? No.
Enough is enough. Restore balance. Restore merit. We want our fair share back.

J&K’s Reservation Policy is Killing Meritocracy!
Out of 11 posts, only 1 candidate from Open Merit made it, rest all through reserved categories. How is this fair to hardworking aspirants? Should competence take a backseat to caste-based quotas? This is institutionalized injustice.
P.S 8 out of those 10 reserved are from Jammu division, 2 from Kashmir.

Reservation is now pure exclusion, not inclusion.

Nothing much to say about NC as a party for its past 3 months of inertia and inaction but @DrVeeri who is facing backlash today ,effigies burnt --all because he advocated for a Rationalised Reservation system and rightful allocation to General population-- deserves all the backing of the GC population at this crucial moment .
Haven't met him even once in life but already earning respect for going against odds and acting as a willful agent of merit and warrior of the GC population when called upon to do so.
Are calls for fairness, restoration of merit and ensuring representation of GC as per rightful constitutional dynamics wrong ?
By any constitutional, legal and moral yardstick ,the proposed Bill is the most pro-constitutional Bill ever introduced in the history of J&K since it upholds the vision of founding fathers of Constitution of Merit being the RULE & Reservation only the EXCEPTION & not vice versa as seen presently.
We want the Executive order immediately and the Legislation to etch the needle of merit at its befitting position for all times to come. Let us solidly galvanise behind the cause and every warrior who raises a voice for us !

Unemployment in J&K is the highest among the General Category population which is the overwhelming majority in J&K.
If they don't get their due ,then what's the point of employment exercises-- is it merely catering to a select elite ?
Out of 292 only 117 are OM which are again OPEN to ALL ,where does that leave the share of GC youth ?
The imbalance is serious ,we need immediate executive action before such exercises and immediate legislation to strongly etch the sieve of merit at its befitting position for all times and ages to come.
Any sensible person, regardless of which section of society he belongs to, cannot dispute this pressing need to ensure quity and balance in the society !

What it shows:
1. SC/ST act is misused!
2. Reservation categories make no sense!
3. Reservation can break unbreakable brotherhood!

Recruitment in J&K must be halted immediately until the reservation system is rationalized. We refuse to be silent while 70% of the population fights for scraps while others enjoy unfair advantages. This is broad daylight robbery of merit and opportunities!

The government should start delivering on the promises made to us. Youth are left jobless, hopeless, and betrayed. Enough of the appeasement politics, we demand justice, fairness, and accountability!
