🇪🇸🔌 Spanish #blackout will become a major case study. 15GW of demand "disappeared" over 5 sec. Frequency dropped 0.15hz. 60% of power was #solar. 🇪🇸 has no open freq. markets (yet).
People will call for "baseload" 🤦♂️. I think we'll need much faster grid balancing mkts
Hi @arcticstartup 👋, founder of @GridioApp here. Thanks for covering our fundraise, but just a question:
🤔who are these two lovely (random) gentlemen on the photo?
Let's get a room 💚!
When (not if) @ArbonicsHQ sorts out 🌳trees and our team at @GridioApp sorts out #EVs 🚗 then that on its own will be a big #climateleap.
Back to work now...
@kallemets You miss my point: if German carmakers want subsidies, then they should first become #subsidizable - i.e. focus on building great #EVs, not as a side-gig to selling their other 10+ brands and propping up their own corporate failures.
Before throwing tax money at German carmakers to build #EVs, German carmakers should become leaner and learn to build better products.
Last decade, China didn't subsidize legacy players, it subsidized innovative new players - Europe doesn't have them.
@kallemets BYD started building cars in 2005. It was not a pre-WWII company with 10 brands all competing with each other with legacy out-dated systems.
China subsidized 200+ EV makers first, then slowly cut them down, now the few winners are getting dividends.
@sandervesik1 yikes, looks like even bigger solar cemeteries, bigger blackouts and bigger crop shortages coming based on thread comments 🤣🤣 #solardrama
Wow, Estonia now has 1GW of solar - about the same as the country's entire peak-time demand today on 4 October.
We are on the 59th latitude - same as south of Alaska...
Eesti päikeseenergia tootmisvõimsus ületas 1000 MW piiri ja on jõudnud 1025 MW-ni☀️
👏Eleringi võrguga liitunud Eveconi 56,2 MW päikesepark andis viimase panuse selle verstapostini jõudmisel.
Võrdluseks:
500 MW täitus 2022 a. lõpus
800 MW täitus eelmise aasta lõpus
W O W ! ! !
The day have come!

🇸🇪Northvolt, once hailed as Sweden's future in green battery production is now old technology and dependence on China
My comment:
Even if this is right or wrong, the technology and developement of great batteries is no walk in the park.
What CATL, Panasonic, Tesla etc have done more and more shows that it is nothing but impressive!

🇸🇪Northvolt, once hailed as Sweden's future in green battery production, is now facing a deep crisis. According to Christian Sandström, docent at Chalmers, the company is seriously mismanaged and lacks the ability to survive, despite the decision to lay off a quarter of the workforce today.
Sandström warns that Northvolt does not have the technical competence required to run battery production on its own. Instead, the company functions as an empty brand, mainly dependent on technology from China – technology that is also three decades old and outdated.
The problems at the plant in Skellefteå are profound. According to Affärsvärlden, the Chinese state-owned company Wuxi Leads has taken control of a central part of production, where the battery's components are put together and the battery cells are filled with electrolyte. This process is managed in practice by Chinese personnel on site in Sweden, which undermines Northvolt's technical independence.
Although China has more advanced battery technology, it chooses not to share it with Northvolt. Instead, outdated technology is used that is managed by Chinese operators. A civil engineer with insight into the operations confirms to Affärsvärlden that "there were several hundred Chinese on site." They had total control and did exactly what they wanted.”
Blank political investment brand
Sandström describes Northvolt as a company that functions more to attract politicians and tax-funded investments than to develop its own technology. The problem is that the Chinese technology used is both old and inefficient, putting the company at a competitive disadvantage compared to Chinese manufacturers. Companies in China have access to modern technology and operate in a home market with better conditions.
- The company is unkempt, says Sandström to Aftonbladet. He also criticizes CEO Peter Carlsson, who previously worked with purchasing and logistics at Tesla. "It seems that the company has failed in exactly this area," says Sandström.
Northvolt is thus in a difficult position, not only because of the internal production problems, but also because of its dependence on Chinese technology and labor. Sandström believes that this dependence has contributed to the financial crisis the company is now facing, and the question is whether Northvolt can recover.
