Polycarp, the bishop of Smyrna, is martyred. A disciple of the Apostle John, at age 86 he was taken to be burned at the stake. "You try to frighten me with fire that burns for an hour and forget the fire of hell that never burns out," he said. The flames, legend says, would not touch him, and when he was run through with a sword, his blood put the fire out.

“Let us not give up the habit of meeting together, as some are doing. Instead, let us encourage one another all the more, since you see that the Day of the Lord is coming nearer.”
Hebrews 10:25
This is not the gospel. The gospel is centered on the reality that Jesus, God-made-flesh, is the only way, truth, and life, and no one comes to the Father except through Him (John 14:6). If anyone believes what the pope is saying here - including the pope himself - they are not a Christian.
