KLF was a Harper cabinet minister and she ran her leadership on restoring basic order and property and parental rights. I imagine she’ll run on a very common sense platform. By calling her crazy, the NDP risk being perceived to be calling mainstream voters crazy, too.
Yep. The country is being sold a mood board while the balance sheet burns.
Canada has hit the technical recession marker with two straight quarters of contraction, unemployment has been running near 7%, and food insecurity reached another record high in 2024. That was not “sunny ways.” That is economic stress wearing a government-issued smile.
The Liberal machine understands optics better than outcomes. Photo ops, foreign tours, soft media coverage, and big speeches create the illusion of momentum. But regular Canadians do not live inside press conferences. They live with rent, groceries, taxes, mortgage renewals, weak wages, and a country that feels more expensive every month.
So yes, when public optimism rises while household reality gets worse, either Canadians are incredibly forgiving, or a lot of people are being fed political theatre instead of the full economic story.
Vibes do not pay bills. Flags do not create jobs. And propaganda does not fill the fridge.
So let me get this straight...
Canada is in a recession—the only G7 country currently in one. Unemployment is up. Inflation is rising. Food insecurity is at a record high.
Yet the highest proportion of Canadians since 2017 now say the country is on the right track.
That's either a remarkable display of optimism—or a sign that many Canadians aren't getting the full economic story from the news they consume.
So let me get this straight.
Doug Ford is hounded to trying to buy a plane and incurring $200K in costs for returning.
Mark Carney buys 6 jets at $115 million each and spends $200k on catering for three flights and it is all good?
Conservatives in BC are in a strong position, with multiple qualified candidates running for leadership. We are only days away from electing our new leader.
The only thing that will hold us back from forming government is ourselves. It is crucial that we all unequivocally support whoever the newly elected leader is.
I am excited to meet supporters from all leadership teams on Saturday because eventually we will all form one big team.
British Columbians are counting on our cooperation, leadership and vision, lets show them we are ready💪🏽🇨🇦
Other candidates have done land acknowledgements, or said that women’s sex based rights are a stupid culture war issue, or proposed a snitch line for “freedom”. Or done interviews with people I find detestable or uninformed. Etc etc etc.
Many people whom I admire got covid wrong at some point. Positions aren’t static.
The right won’t be able to function if people can’t stop infighting.
