@ericarutgers I have seen so many people get over consumed with online gambling! It's interesting to see something that used to only take place in person manifest into something that people can do anywhere anytime
Internet addiction can be considered a mental problem but it is one of the most visible addictions in people everywhere. So often we see people missing out on authentic life experiences because of their addiction to their phone and the need to stay connected to the internet.
@yourstrulyalli@mrnesi Its interesting to see addiction begin so soon in life. Before phones addiction was not a problem in society until later in life. Now with technology it is something we need to monitor so early.
@VaccaSiena Minecraft is a great example of a virtual world since you can communicate with so many people all over the world and play the game! #sandsf19
A social virtual world that I have been a part of is Webkinz- site where you can buy a stuffed animal to create an account or make your own animated animal to play games or chat with friends in the chatroom. I used it when I was younger to make new friends and build a community.
@RenukaVenkates6 I agree! I love having the ability to communicate with my family and friends online when we're not near each other, especially when I'm away at college. It's still just not the same as that in person interaction but at least we get to stay connected! #sandsf19
@OkeraG I've tried long distance relationships before and they just never work out! I need that in person interaction to feel close to someone. Facetime just isn't enough sometimes! #sandsf19
@tiannabrad1 I would never be able to have the same quality relationships with my friends that I have if we only communicated online! Although we do send each other memes occasionally, most communication is in person. #sandsf19
Face to face interactions allow for nonverbal comm like haptics or body language. These cannot be shared in an online relationship but are essential to love and familial relationships. In person interaction at some point in most relationships is necessary. #sandsf19
@jp15061@AOC AOC uses her leadership platform and her social media accounts to make real connections with her followers and to make her opinions heard across a wider base of people.
@kharrison1620 I agree, being an active participator in the communication with your followers allows for open communication and can bolster your leadership.
People with power automatically have the platform of social media to inspire others like their followers and it is their responsibility as a leader to do so effectively. https://t.co/bwgVBHkAU1 #351S19_03
@brainpicker uses the digital platform to spark a conversation about literature, art, science, or philosophy. She pushes peopleβs creative boundaries through thought provoking discussions and readings. #351S19_03
@Vismay39199467@JeffBezos A lot about being a leader is being able to make connections. By his social media presence Bezos is able to network more and have conversations with the average person rather than limiting the conversation to only those he works with.
@kellyshawRU @themarcjacobs The vision that Marc Jacobs presents into the world through his digital presence really shows his power as a leader and fashion designer.
