It was a privilege to join the 2026 Khaan Quest opening ceremony today. This year marks an important milestone in the history of Khaan Quest—the twentieth anniversary of this multinational exercise. Thank you to all participating nations, and thanks to the Mongolian Armed Forces for their leadership and excellence in peacekeeping operations around the world. Iceland had the Viking clap at Euro 2016. Norway, back at the World Cup for the first time since 1998, has rowing.
The stands row in unison. Yesterday even parliament joined in mid-session. A nation of rowers, and there is history behind that👇

For several days, the search for 8-year-old Khizir Derbichev has continued on the banks of the Sunzha River in Ingushetia. He was swept away by the current after rushing into the water to save his friend.
The tragedy has united the entire Caucasus. More than 20,000 people from Ingushetia, Chechnya, Dagestan, Kabardino-Balkaria and North Ossetia have joined the search.
Ossetians were among the first to arrive. Amurkhan Kusov, head of the “Be Kind” charity foundation, and North Ossetian MP Soslan Didarov came with around a hundred residents of the republic to help search the riverbed and banks alongside rescuers and locals.
This is what Caucasian solidarity looks like: when someone else’s child becomes everyone’s child.
