That “100k or more for just posting” comment actually provoked me a lot. The main reason I don’t want to say too much about it is because it came from Sugar, and Sugar is someone I respect like mad.

If he truly understood the amount of work South East influencers put in and how underpaid they are, I don’t think he would have said that.

Most times, a group of 5–7 influencers will come together and share 100k or 200k paid by an artist, then spend months consistently pushing that artist’s music and brand. Meanwhile, the same artists will pay Lagos influencers millions for similar PR campaigns. Some will even bring tweets made by Lagos influencers and ask South East influencers to engage them.

Lagos influencers get paid properly, artists host them, give them show tickets, VIP access, and other perks. How many artists in the South East do that? Sometimes, for them to even retweet a post you made about them feels like a struggle.

Well, shoutout to the few artists in this ecosystem who genuinely appreciate the work, effort, and consistency that influencers put in. We dey see unah!
