The 2026 KHSAA Softball State Tournament presented by UK HealthCare also features North Hardin vs. Apollo at 1 P.M. on June 4. These two state tournament participants have not met in more than 24 years, but play for a date in the quarterfinals at John Cropp Stadium.

We are happy to announce the UK HealthCare Orthopaedic Surgery & Sports Medicine Female Player of the Month for May is Rayne Patsel from Ryle High School.

Rayne has been a standout leader and performer for the Ryle softball team this season. As a senior captain, she leads by example and helps guide her teammates with confidence and consistency on and off the field. Rayne currently leads the team in OPS, hits, and batting average, posting an impressive .676 batting average with 37 hits, five doubles, and three home runs. As the team MVP, she continues to set the standard for leadership, consistency, and excellence in competition.

We are happy to announce the UK HealthCare Orthopaedic Surgery & Sports Medicine Male Player of the Month for May is Vinnie Lane from Dixie Heights High School.

Vinnie has made history this season on the track. At the Campbell County Classic, he broke the Dixie Heights boys track and field record in the 100-meter dash with a time of 10.82 seconds, surpassing a record that had stood since 1970. His dedication, speed, and work ethic have made him one of the top sprinters in the state and a standout representative of Dixie Heights athletics.
