On November 11, 2024, 6 Meetei civilians all Women and infants were reportedly kidnapped and held hostage by Kuki militants from a remote village in Jiribam. The recent CRPF operation, which led to the deaths of 11 Kuki militants, is believed to be in retaliation for these attacks and kidnappings. This information was allegedly shared in a WhatsApp group linked to Kuki militants. Innocent village volunteers remain held captive, yet the Kuki Women Organisation for Human Rights who recently petitioned the President and NHRC over the death of a woman they referred to as a “fallen hero in defense of our ancestral land” on November 7, 2024 has not condemned this act of terrorism.

Some leaders of Kuki groups, despite claiming victimhood in the conflict, reportedly engage in hostage-taking of civilians, including women, children, and infants. I intend to bring this issue to the United Nations Human Rights Council and anticipate their defense. The truth must prevail, ending any attempts at deception.

We must closely monitor the response of central forces and agencies to see if rescue efforts are initiated or if the Assam Rifles will be pressed to negotiate with their Kuki allies for the safe release of these hostages. I will ensure that all relevant authorities are alerted to observe and address these apparent acts of terrorism, which have escalated since yesterday.

Those who resisted fencing along the Myanmar border in Kuki-inhabited areas bear responsibility for the current issues. We initially believed she was an innocent victim of the conflict, caught as collateral damage in the armed clashes between Chin-Kuki narco-terrorist groups and the Khunngakpa village defenders of Jiribam. However, with her recent designation as one of their “fallen heroes,” any sympathy I held for the bereaved has faded, she was, after all, aligned with the terrorist aggressors.

With her official designation as one of their fallen heroes, she is no longer seen as a victim but as a narco-terrorist aggressor combatant who died in action.

Today , an innocent meitei farmer named Sapam Ongbi Sonia wife of Dayananda of Kumbi Watha Lambi,Bishnupur Dist. was shot and killed while working at Paddy field by #KukiTerrorists .

This is not the first instance where farmers were attacked and killed.

Many pertinent questions arise.
1. What is the role of central forces stationed to safeguard people.
2. Why no preamtive actions taken to thwart any attack in future?
