@BLoe49@reallildebbie2@MotorBeauty How is that classist? Saying I think wearing a satin sleep bonnet in public is inappropriate isn't judging someone's social class. It's an opinion about attire, not about a person's worth or income.
@BLoe49@reallildebbie2@MotorBeauty That's not what you originally argued. You went from "it never originated as sleepwear" to "it was for hair protection." Those aren't the same claim. Its original purpose was protecting hair while sleeping; the public, political, and cultural meanings came later.
@BLoe49@reallildebbie2@MotorBeauty That's revisionist history. Bonnets and durags originated as hair protection, especially for sleep. Public cultural symbolism came later, it wasn't their original purpose.
Black people used to be one of the cleanest and sharp dressing people you can find… Now their descendants are fighting to wear durags/bonnets and pajamas on college campuses lmao
People are in an uproar about a Tuskegee not allowing bonnets and Durags in public reminds me of Coach Carter.. when folks were mad at the coach because their kids had to have a certain GPA to play basketball 😂🤣
@404Lo_ Let’s be honest. The community has encouraged sloppyness, degeneracy, ignorance and stubborness. Now we’ve ended up in a situation where if we tell students to dress appropriately and not wear pajamas and bonnets to school, they get upset and say that we are being anti-black.
For me, Atlanta was the road to a new beginning. A new life. A new place to rediscover myself. I love what I built in this city. I love the woman I became. I will forever be grateful for taking that leap and moving from my hometown of Birmingham. Atlanta is special to me.
No Mike…Obama getting elected didn’t create racism or division. It exposed how much racism was already here. A Black man becoming president made a lot of white people uncomfortable because it challenged the idea of who they believed should hold power in this country.
Instead of addressing racism, white people blamed Obama for the reaction racist people had to his success. He’s not responsible for the hate. Racists are. The division came from white people refusing to accept equality, progress, and the fact that America was changing.
