‘Dementia is the thing the public worry about the most. It’s like an elephant in the room.’

The words of Baroness Casey advocating for more decisive action on dementia to today’s Health and Social Care Committee.

Echoing Baroness Casey’s position, our CEO, Michelle Dyson, said:

'Despite being the UK’s biggest killer, people living with the condition still face fragmented care, long waits for diagnosis and inadequate support. This is something we would never accept for conditions like cancer or heart disease, and we firmly agree with Baroness Casey that progress desperately needs to be driven by UK government.

‘The Modern Service Framework for Dementia and Frailty is a once-in-a-generation opportunity to change this and build a future where dementia no longer devastates lives. But as it stands, the current direction does not match the scale of the challenge or set out the level of change needed to truly improve the lives of people living with dementia, now and in the future.’

‘We must now see a bold, credible plan for dementia care that will deliver real change for the nearly one million people living with dementia and their families.’

If, like us, you want our leaders to seize this opportunity to change the story of dementia, please sign our open letter to the government demanding that the Modern Service Framework delivers the bold action everyone affected by dementia needs.
