My 7-year-old daughter heard me say that Dolly Parton died, and got visibly very sad. I was surprised she even knew that name.
“You know Dolly Parton?”
In the sweetest timid voice, she replied:
“Well, I don’t _know_ know her. But she sent me books.”
😢😭
Amazing that while the chuds on here argue the worth of a working women, the entire country openly mourns a woman who had no children but still left a massive impact on her community, on pop culture, and on society in general
ok but I do hate data centers. I hate most things that replace grass and trees that also do not benefit the public at large. I hate noisy, ugly, gigantic polluters of my water and air
People don't hate data centers — they hate that wealth is increasingly concentrated among a technocratic elite that is actively trying to destroy their jobs.
Data centers are a physical manifestation of the tech industry and an easy outlet for populist rage.
came across this and I feel like it goes kinda with what I'm saying idk. your IG can be found and reposted by anybody and while it always could have been it feels different now https://t.co/xXOcfcAJIO
When did teenagers stop posting pictures on Instagram? 😭 Everyone has 0 posts now. What happened to using Instagram as a little scrapbook of your life and actually keeping the memories?
others have probably said this but I'm just thinking out loud idk. but the internet used to be a place where you weren't at risk of the algorithm pushing your mundane electronic diary entries into the eyeline of a bunch of weird angry freaks
like twitter was a microblogging site and the only big posts were from accounts purposefully fostering big followings or literal celebrities. not everything was at risk of going viral...the internet was a lot smaller in multiple ways
I feel like millennial women have been fighting very hard to dismantle the gender categorizing of hobbies, only for the gen z matcha pilates rhode crowd to try to restrict girlhood solely to what interests them, disregarding anything else as « weird » and/or « pandering to men »
