I wish I could tell you everyone will love the strong & independent "you" you're creating in trauma recovery, but they won't. Some people will feel threatened by it. Some people won't know what to do w/ it. Some people strongly preferred you unstable & needy.
Sucks to be them.
"Gratitude" is one of the most oversold concepts in mental health.
In my experience it can be enormously counterproductive to try to force "gratitude"-- especially for trauma survivors who have had our pain disbelieved, minimized, & otherwise invalidated at every turn.
If you are still able to.
Call yo grandma today. Talk to her for a little while. Gossip if you have to lmao. She’ll love that shit. And you’ll be glad you did it.
I miss my grandmas. So very much. I love you both.
CPTSD feels like the decision making centers of our brain were hijacked & replaced by a burlap sack full of feral raccoons-- & we have to pretend to everyone around us that we're fine, everything is fine, no raccoons in here, why would you ask about feral raccoons? 🦝
Your pain or disability does not need to be easily visible to anyone for it to be valid, or for you to "deserve" support w/ managing it. You don't "owe" anyone a "performance" of your pain. Remind yourself, again & again today.
Yes: your CPTSD wounds are probably going to "spike" some of your feelings & reactions-- but that doesn't man EVERY feeling or reaction you have is "just" a trauma response.
Real life CPTSD isn't so black & white to understand or manage.
@hell_line0 No drama, no argument, just quietly took back control. That is the cleanest move. The people who steal credit always panic when access is revoked because they never had the skill to create it themselves.
Modern psychology has a long history of diagnosing sensitive, awakened, and highly creative people as sick. Conforming to the system doesn't mean you're well.
