tech twitter literally one year ago:
Omg, stop going after shiny new dev tools! The only thing that matters is delivering value to your users
Tech twitter now:
Omg are you not using Cursor
Omg are you not using Tanstack Start
Omg are you not using Bun
@TkDodo@DorShinar It's unfortunately often not practical when you have 10+ such event handlers in different parts of your app and someone opening the page with an url to consider.
We just published a new recipe about a community library, mst-query. If you need to manage async data with MobX-State-Tree, you'll want to read up! Link in thread.
pretty crazy how we got server components & react compiler before a built-in client state manager that's not too basic to do anything remotely complex
@jamonholmgren@TkDodo@coolsoftwaredev what we mostly wanted from react-query was:
* normalization of deeply nested data
* easily refetch queries when stale/mutated
* gc of unused models in paginated lists
so I ended up reimplementing those things
@TkDodo@jamonholmgren@coolsoftwaredev sorry for the confusion :) but while mst-query initially was written on top of react-query, it's now pure mst/mobx
@coolsoftwaredev@TkDodo@jamonholmgren gotcha :) would love to know more about the syntax issues. mst-query is very flexible but maybe not as terse as some people would like, I guess that's it? this is the same code as Jamon posted earlier but with mst-query
@coolsoftwaredev@TkDodo@jamonholmgren what are you missing from mst-query? imo the difficult parts are already done, and a lot of the apis from react query doesn't make sense to port since we already have something similar in mst/mobx
@dan_abramov2@jjenzz@tomus_sherman@t3dotgg@jacobmparis@alvarlagerlof for an app with lots of data fetching in tooltips, dropdowns, nested tabs, multiple lists with infinite scroll/pagination, should you use server actions, a client fetching solution or something else? i've read conflicting things on this
I think I’ve had it with apple. The web could be so much better for app development, I’ve just been kinda patiently waiting for safari to stop lagging but they really don’t care and it shows.
A few people there have been apple to push css stuff forward but nothing we really need
🔥It's official🔥
👿Evil Apple is back, and it's killing PWAs on iOS for EU users🇪🇺
"To comply with the DMA’s requirements, we had to remove the Home Screen web apps feature in the EU.
-"Very low user adoption of Home Screen web apps"
-"Minimal impact to their functionality"
