Flock Camera Installer SWATS Atlanta News First Investigative Journalist

As it turns out, Flock Camera Installers don't like to be watched.

In this video, a Flock camera installer calls the police because a news journalist is documenting him installing cameras.

I say the Flock camera installer SWATed the journalist because of what the installer says at 1:54 in the video.

"I work with Flock Safety. And I'm getting followed.
Harassed, pretty much. Taking videos and pictures.

I'll just put out my first name because I don't want them to hear my full name on the 911 call when they get it."

When they get the 911 call?

How many people do you know who are illegally harassing and threatening violence to someone, will then later seek out the 911 call of the incident via a FOIA request, and publish that call to the internet?

None. But that is exactly what an investigative journalist would do.

The installer KNEW that this man was a journalist and was acting within his rights and responsibilities. Yet, he called the police on him anyway, claiming the journalist was illegally harassing him and causing him to fear for his safety, so that the police would come and harass the journalist and risk a possible physical altercation, even though the journalist was doing nothing wrong.

"A Google data center is going up near West Memphis, Arkansas, and residents keep being told someone else is covering the cost for power.

Jessica Kivell, a nurse, got curious, so she asked the state for paperwork.

The state sent Kivell the documents. She handed them to Sydney Sasser—a reporter at the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette—who published them on August 31. The paper reported on Google covering $526 million for a $1.6 billion solar plant that was built to feed the data center.

It also reported that power company Entergy was charging its customers $5.77 more per month since June that went to three new power projects—one of them the solar plant intended for the data center.

Entergy wants a retraction. They claim the math is wrong. Entergy filed a lawsuit the next day, asking the judge to rule before Kivell or the newspapers could speak about it.

They also demanded the article be taken down from the website, and asked the court to make all five defendants name anyone they shared the documents with.

Their brief never mentioned the First Amendment.

But presiding Judge Lee Rudofsky did, calling it prior restraint and saying the matter was one of significant public concern.

Kivell sat through the hearing in her work scrubs. Rudofsky refused to order the story taken down or to issue a gag order. A day later Entergy abandoned its bid for an injunction.

What the TV does by design:

— scans your entire home network continuously. in their test: one TV identified 38 unrelated devices including phones, smartwatches, printers, and thermostats belonging to people not involved in the test.

— collects the names and signal strengths of every nearby WiFi network, plus location data. all sent to LG Ad Solutions.

— runs ACR (Automatic Content Recognition) on everything displayed on screen. including HDMI inputs. your laptop, gaming console, or work monitor connected to the TV is being fingerprinted.

— one TV exchanged roughly 4GB of ACR-related data per month.

What the TV does that LG says it doesn't:

LG publicly stated their TVs "do not collect, record, or store ambient conversations."

Gamers Nexus found:
— the TV converts speech to plain text and stores it in on-device logs

— the microphone window stays open 10 to 15 seconds after talking stops, capturing bystanders who never addressed the TV

— the TV recorded room audio while the screen appeared off and the Ethernet cable was unplugged, then exfiltrated the file the moment it reconnected

The security vulnerabilities on top:
Beyond the designed behavior, researchers found remote code execution vulnerabilities in webOS that could allow a compromised TV to be weaponized as a covert listening device.

these sets are in hospitals. waiting rooms. boardrooms. hotels.

a surgeon asked Gamers Nexus where that leaves patient confidentiality.

Gamers Nexus has no answer. neither does LG.

What to do right now:
— disconnect your LG TV from your network entirely. route streaming through an Apple TV, Roku, or Fire Stick instead.

— if you must keep it connected: put it on a separate IoT VLAN or guest network so it cannot reach your other devices.

— disable the built-in microphone in settings.

— check your privacy dashboard and opt out of ACR and ad personalization.

— after every firmware update: recheck all of the above.

BREAKING: We just sued Amazon over what we believe was a vast, ad-rigging scheme.

We believe Amazon found a way to charge a few extra pennies to an enormous number of transactions, adding up to over $20 billion in illegal charges.

This is about how something becomes a "Sponsored product."

Amazon lets businesses bid to be "Sponsored" but it told businesses that the highest bid would only pay slightly more than the second-highest bid.

For example: If you bid $1 to have your product “Sponsored” and the next-highest bid is $0.50, you should pay about $0.51.

But we believe that Amazon would run the auction, see those bids, and then secretly raise the second-place price so it could charge the winner more.

It was a gradual strategy based on concealment.

Internal Amazon documents show they tested how much they could raise those hidden charges without advertisers catching on, then raised them more when businesses didn’t react, then gave false answers when businesses started asking questions.

This is a case about affordability, fair competition, and basic honesty in the marketplace. My thanks to the big bipartisan team on this, from AGs across the country to the FTC.

A woman says she was beaten unconscious, stripped naked, filmed, and the video was circulated among Navy sailors.

She reported it. NCIS allegedly closed the case before they had even interviewed her.

They reopened it, witnesses reportedly confirmed the video existed, and it still ended with no charges.

Warrick Dunn was 18 years old when his mother was shot and killed.

She was a Baton Rouge police officer, working a second job as a security guard to support six kids as a single mom, when she was killed in a botched robbery in 1993.

Her lifelong dream was to own a home. She never got there.

Dunn used her life insurance money to buy a house for his five younger siblings, so they could stay together.

Four years later, he was a first round pick for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

His head coach, Tony Dungy, challenged all his rookies to give back to the community. Most guys did an appearance or handed out turkeys at Thanksgiving.

Dunn thought about his mom instead.

He started a program called Homes for the Holidays. Every year, he picks single parent families who are working hard but can't get over the down payment hump, and buys them a house.

Not just the down payment either. Furniture in every room. A stocked pantry. Beds already made.

The first year, in 1997, he did it for three families.

He never stopped.

As of the most recent count, Warrick Dunn Charities has helped over 220 single parent families become first time homeowners.

One of those families, back in 2006, moved a teenager named Deshaun Watson into his own bedroom for the first time in his life.

"I felt grown to have my own room," Watson said years later. "Not really worrying about someone sneaking up on me. It was a special moment."

That kid grew up to be an NFL starting quarterback.

Most of the families Dunn helps never end up on a football field or in the news. That's kind of the point.

He's been doing this for almost 30 years, mostly out of the spotlight, funded by donations and his own money, one house at a time.

"I wanted to do something that was a little bit more impactful," Dunn said. "Not just handing out turkeys."

His mom never got the house she wanted.

So her son decided nobody in his path would go without one if he could help it.
