When you’re in class learning about the “cl” blend during a phonics lesson and you see a picture of a chicken because chickens “cluck”...What do you do?? Run and get your pet chicken, obviously!! ❤️🐯🐔

Highlight of my day! During phonics, we were learning about the “cl” blend, and there was a picture of a chicken with a speech bubble on the board. Why? Because chickens cluck! So one of my students ran away to show us his pet chicken! #iovekinder #hybrid

Phonemic awareness (the understanding that spoken words are made up of individual sounds) and phonics (how those individual sounds are represented by letters) are two building blocks to fluent reading, and without them, some students will continue to struggle to read.
