Imagine a world where car accidents kill ~100 people a day. Suddenly there is acid rain that kills you if you go outside. Deaths by acid rain exist now, and car accident deaths drop to ~0 (less drivers, emptier streets)

@marysed11 @liz_churchill10 @EdKrassen It also significantly LESSENS the point made with the graph above, because if the “flu cases” in each of those years was 2-3x higher, then the implied point (they were counting covid cases instead of flu cases) would be moot because then the flu and covid cases wouldnt be equal
