We had the privilege of sharing our stories and art with visitors from different countries, cultures, and backgrounds. Every visit became an opportunity for dialogue, learning, and human connection.
It was also an honor to welcome the men and women in uniform who serve their countries. Through our exhibitions and conversations, we shared stories that helped them better understand the history of Rwanda and the African continent.
Although our museum is temporarily closed, these meaningful encounters remain part of our journey. We look forward to welcoming visitors again in our new space and continuing our mission of preserving memory, inspiring reflection, and building understanding through art.
This afternoon at Urugwiro Village, President Kagame received Daniel Libeskind, Founder and Principal Architect of Studio Libeskind; Nina Libeskind, Co-founder of Studio Libeskind; Stefan Blach, Partner at Studio Libeskind; and Holm Keller, Chairman of the kENUP Foundation. They discussed plans for the new National Genocide Monument at the current Kigali Genocide Memorial, envisioned as a powerful space for remembrance, education and reflection through cutting-edge technology and a deeply immersive, personal experience.

During the presentation of Inzira yโInzitane: The Story of Rwanda, a psychological walkthrough and art installation that helped people understand Rwandaโs difficult journey from 1994 to 2024, we welcomed visitors into a space of reflection, learning, and remembrance.
Those who attended the exhibition had the opportunity to listen once again to the speech delivered by H.E. President @PaulKagame during Kwibuka 30.
As the museum has closed, we look back with gratitude on moments such as these, when we were honored to share our national values with the community through art and storytelling. These memories continue to inspire our vision as we prepare for a new chapter.

While we were operating in Kigali Cultural Village, Rebero, we were always excited to welcome artists from different disciplines. Theatre was an important part of our mission, and we were proud to share our amphitheater with fellow artists as a space for creativity, expression, and community.
This performance was presented by Bingo Rรฉgis.
As we look ahead to our new home, we remain committed to the spirit of sharing, collaboration, and artistic growth. We look forward to welcoming you again and continuing to share all that we have with our creative community.

Our space has served as a valuable place for creative expression, especially for visual artists working across different disciplines.
As we look forward to continuing our vision in a new space, we remain committed to the same spirit of creativity, collaboration, and sharing with fellow artists.
We carry this vision with us and look forward to welcoming and inspiring artists once again.

Museum Ingaboโs impact went far beyond its walls. With limited means, we did our best to inspire the next generation by showing every child that anything is possible.
These are children from three different districts and three different public primary schools who took part in our ABANART project, an initiative that introduces art to children in public schools. This photograph was taken during their visit to Kigali, at the top of the @RwandaParliamnt , after visiting the Museum for the Campaign Against Genocide. @IntekoyUmuco
Looking back on moments like these reminds us that the true legacy of Museum Ingabo is not only what we built, but the young minds we inspired along the way.

Our rooms were filled with the joy of discovery. There was no greater happiness than welcoming children from different schools and inviting them to feel free, explore, learn, and imagine.
As the museum remains closed, we look back on these memories with gratitude. They remind us of what we created together and inspire us to dream of what we will soon bring back in a new space.
The story of Museum Ingabo is not over, it is simply waiting for its next home.
To all contemporary artists who submitted their applications, thank you for your enthusiasm and participation.
We are pleased to announce that the selected artists for the ART WEEK KIGALI 2026 Edition will be announced soon.
๐ Dates: July 16 โ July 26, 2026

When the museum first opened its doors, it was envisioned as a home for creativity, culture, and artistic expression, a space where artists could gather, create, and share their voices with the community.
We had the privilege of welcoming fellow artists for rehearsals, concerts, exhibitions, conversations, and countless memorable moments that brought art to life within our walls.
Today, as Museum Ingabo remains temporarily closed while we prepare for a new chapter in a new location, we carry those memories with gratitude and hope.
We look forward to reopening our doors and welcoming you once again to a space where creativity, culture, and community continue to thrive.
Until then, the story continues.
IMBARAGA (STRENGTH)
The lake does not ask their names. It only opens its waters, and they cross.
Morning after morning, evening after evening, they glide between hills and horizons, carrying their loved ones , stories, dreams, and the weight of another day.
In a world where too many women are taught fear, they answer with movement.
They do not conquer the water; they belong to it.
And sometimes, watching them disappear into the distance, I imagine that the lake is their sky. That their boats are wings. That every crossing is a lesson in freedom.
Their strength is not loud. It does not announce itself. It lives in the rhythm of their journeys.
IMBARAGA is a tribute to the women of @BureraDistrict , women who teach us that strength is not the absence of struggle, but the decision to keep moving through it.
Inspired by the women of Lake Burera, Rwanda.

During our time at Museum Ingabo, we had the privilege of engaging in many meaningful conversations with delegates who visited to learn more about our country. This group of delegates from Arusha, Tanzania ๐น๐ฟ toured the museum as part of a visit organized on behalf of the @CityofKigali .
Sharing our history, culture, and stories with visitors from across the world remains one of the most rewarding aspects of our journey.

Art and storytelling, while sharing our own history, were the reasons I created a museum. Through teaching and preserving our collective memory, especially the painful history of the 1994 Genocide Against the Tutsi, we sought to create a space for learning, reflection, and dialogue.
Welcoming students from around the world and sharing these stories with them has always been one of our greatest motivations to keep moving forward.
