Today, Tuesday, May 12, former board chairman Wayne Chai Chong finally sat before the Public Accounts Committee and gave his side of the story. And bredrin, it’s straightforward: he resigned in December 2023 because the Health Minister, Dr Christopher Tufton, overruled a board decision to replace the acting CEO at the time, Fitzgerald Mitchell (who has since been confirmed as the full CEO).

Since there is almost no enforcement of traffic laws in this wondrous country, taxis can avoid the roads altogether and just drive on the sidewalk. It just keeps, and will keep, getting worse.

The source of the traffic problem is the absence of a system for the mass transit of the majority of commuters. At some point a city has to make a massive investment in either a rail transit system (subway or overhead) or dedicated and enforced bus lanes on wide thoroughfares.

We have a winner! The term ‘perfume’ comes from the Latin ‘per’ (through) ‘fumum’ (smoke) due to the ancient practice of censing the gods and I like that ‘smake’ sounds like ‘smoke,’ preserving that connection.
