This post contains false and misleading information. There is currently no by-election scheduled in Gqeberha (note the misspelling in this post itself raises questions about its credibility). The only upcoming Eastern Cape by-election is on 18 March 2026, and the sole independent candidate is Mr Sibusiso Mpofu. To contest any by-election in South Africa, a candidate must be a South African citizen, be 18 or older, hold a valid South African ID, and be registered to vote in the relevant municipality. These requirements are verified through the Candidate Nomination System and Voters' Roll. No unverified individual can slip through this process. We urge the public not to share unverified content that undermines trust in our electoral institutions. The IEC takes the integrity of every election seriously.
The Electoral Commission will conduct voter registration in Eastern Cape, Gauteng, Limpopo, North West, and Western Cape on 30–31 August 2025 ahead of the municipal by-elections on 15 October 2025.
• Voting stations: Open from 08h00–17h00.
• Who can register: All eligible voters; current voters may also update details.
• Requirements: Bring a green barcoded ID, smartcard ID, or valid Temporary ID Certificate.
• Address details: Voters must provide their physical residential address (but no proof of address is required).

The DA retains the right to maintain its own foreign policy position. However, that position can not be imposed on the President under the guise of the GNU. The President will not be micromanaged by the DA in his execution of South Africa's foreign policy.
The DA distances itself from recent comments made by President Ramaphosa during bilateral engagements with Russian President Vladimir Putin, where he stated that "Russia is a valuable ally and friend." https://t.co/kzeOsp7VC7
My friend @LukhonaMnguni always says:
"Don't think everyone wants the state to succeed. Always ask who: will be the biggest losers if the state were to succeed in delivering what it should?"
We must not give up on a functioning state.
