Something really clicked between Mercedes and the AEW audience in the second half of 2025. You can tell the crowd really missed her. She’s gotten a huge ovation tonight.
Welcome back, Mercedes Moné.
Mercedes was revealed as the Wild Card entrant in the Women’s Owen Hart Cup Tournament on AEW Dynamite, replacing the injured Willow Nightingale. For what feels like the first time in forever, Mercedes walked into an AEW match without a championship around her waist. She defeated Alex Windsor and advanced in the tournament.
At this point, it’s looking increasingly likely that we’re heading toward Mercedes Moné vs. Athena at Forbidden Door on June 28. Two of the best women’s wrestlers in North America battling in the Owen Hart Cup Finals for a shot at the AEW Women’s World Championship?
Yeah, sign me all the way up for that.
mercede’s first match back and the crowd is immediately alive, the match automatically gets “ this is awesome” chants, everything in wrestling just feels so much better when she’s around her power could never be denied!
Wow! What a main event on AEW Dynamite. Overall, this was a great show from start to finish.
Despite all the interference from the Don Callis Family, Will Ospreay was able to overcome the odds with help from former enemies-turned-allies, the Death Riders and Konosuke Takeshita, defeating Mark Davis to advance to the finals of the Men's Owen Hart Cup Tournament.
This episode felt much more in line with the kind of momentum I was hoping AEW would build coming out of Double or Nothing 2026. Right now, Forbidden Door is shaping up to be another excellent pay-per-view for AEW. I can't wait to see how all of these stories come together on June 28.
