Chrysostomos of Dodona, a titular metropolitan of the Greek Orthodox Church, spoke out against antisemitism and expressed support for the Jewish people, making a striking theological statement. He emphasized that Christianity grew directly out of the Jewish tradition and that the Old Testament is an integral part of Christian Holy Scripture.

Recalling the strong historical ties between the two cultures, Chrysostomos expressed his deep respect for the Jewish people and stressed that hatred based on nationality or religion is unacceptable.

For the island of Zakynthos, where Chrysostomos served as a spiritual leader for many years, this issue carries particular significance. During the German occupation, the local clergy and residents of the island saved the entire Jewish community from deportation.

In Israel, the metropolitan’s remarks were warmly received and described as a significant step toward strengthening interfaith dialogue. However, his words sparked a wave of outrage among pro-Palestinian activists.

A wave of criticism unfolded on social media, with activists accusing the metropolitan of “whitewashing Israel” and redefining the meaning of antisemitism. What exactly he allegedly redefined about the concept, however, the critics did not clarify.🇬🇷🙏🇮🇱

Ben-Gvir gives a harsh reply to complaints from female terrorist inmates
National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir conducted an extensive inspection of the high-security Damon Prison in northern Israel, on Mount Carmel, in the forests near Haifa. Damon is the country’s main facility that includes a women’s wing for Arab inmates convicted of terrorism, attacks on Israelis, and other serious crimes.
During the visit he heard a briefing from the prison leadership and checked the CCTV covering cells, corridors, and exercise yards. Ben-Gvir also chose to speak with the Arab women terrorists, some of whom belong to Islamic Jihad, the group operating in the Gaza Strip.
The women raised a series of complaints about the harsh conditions and protested the prison administration’s refusal to grant inmates the benefits and privileges that used to be routine under the old rules.
One inmate said she was a member of Islamic Jihad and complained about the severe conditions. She spoke of regular cell searches, the lack of a “normal shower” and water in the cells, and claimed the prisoners were not receiving necessary medical care.
“The days of summer camps in Israeli prisons are over,” Ben-Gvir told her bluntly. “I am the one responsible for that. Anyone who harms Israelis cannot expect hotel conditions. Islamic Jihad held Israeli hostages in Gaza who could only pray to get conditions like these.”
“Our hostages had no shampoo and they had no human conditions at all,” Ben-Gvir stressed. “The terrorist women’s whining about prison conditions doesn’t work on me. I will continue to pursue a policy of the barest of bare minimums.”
Former Israeli hostage Rom Breslavski, who survived captivity by Islamic Jihad, also commented on the video the minister published of the prison visit.
“Her organization kidnapped me, and she allows herself to talk far too much. Rest assured, Ben-Gvir — they did not talk to us that way.”
As a reminder, as Israel’s national security minister Itamar Ben-Gvir has, among other things, systematically pursued a hard line toward terrorist prisoners and has initiated high-profile and sometimes controversial reforms of the country’s prison system.

The real Harry Potter is buried in Ramla — and his grave has become an unexpected landmark
In the British military cemetery of the city of Ramla, among thousands of graves of soldiers from the First and Second World Wars, stands a modest stone bearing a name the whole world now knows.
Private Harry Potter of the 1st Battalion, Worcestershire Regiment, was born on 16 September 1920 in Kidderminster. He was one of eight children. He joined the army early: he added a year to his age so he could enlist at 16–17. His comrades called him Crash Harry.
In September 1938 his unit was sent to Mandatory Palestine. Potter served as a driver. On 22 July 1939 he was killed in a firefight on the Hebron–Beersheba road. He was 18 years and 10 months old. The headstone reads “19 years 10 months” — that is how it was recorded because of the year he had added.
His last letter to his mother, in which he wrote that he was fine and hoped to be home for Christmas, reached the family only after they had already been notified of his death.
For decades the grave went unnoticed. After the Harry Potter books and films, the name on the stone began to draw people. Tourists and fans of the series started coming. The authorities of Ramla even included the site in official tourist routes.
The coincidence of names is accidental. But it is exactly that coincidence that turned an ordinary soldier’s grave into a place people visit not only for the history of 1939, but also because of a boy wizard this Harry Potter never knew.

💔 Noa Englender, 23, from Kiryat Bialik, was a creative and talented young woman who, on that black morning, drove to a festival with her partner and friends to have fun.
Moments of horror on October 7 severed contact with her when she was brutally murdered in the Re’im area and later buried at Tzur Shalom cemetery.
Her father Yaakov mourns the loss of the young woman who loved to dance and listen to music and simply wanted to be happy her whole life.
Her last dance steps were stopped in a pool of blood and horror.
