​Blatant Retaliatory Extension: After running documents, law enforcement cannot artificially drag out a detention simply because a citizen invokes their Fifth Amendment right to remain silent. Telling a motorist "I can stand here all day, I get paid either way" while threatening to wait for a cite book to be driven across town is a direct violation of established Fourth Amendment precedent (Illinois v. Caballes / Rodriguez v. United States).

​Weaponizing Mental Health Against Constitutional Rights: The moment Proctor refused to answer conversational bait, the officer flipped the script from a bogus parking issue to gaslighting, claiming Proctor’s calm silence was "hostility" and feigning concern for his mental stability. Framing a citizen’s refusal to chat as grounds for a Welfare & Institutions Code § 5150 evaluation is one of the most chilling, bad-faith intimidation tactics an officer can pull.

​Proctor didn't raise his voice, argue the law on the asphalt, or feed the ego. He kept his composure, repeatedly asked if he was free to go, and let the officer run out of excuses until he had no choice but to fold and walk away.

​Know your rights, keep your composure, and never surrender your silence. Tyrant officers may try to intimidate you into surrendering your rights.
