My good friend Dante Barbetta, who worked at Paramount's Famous Studios from 1953 to 1957, is 90 today! Dante's a huge fan of Disney, and he drew these pieces with marker on cardboard.
NEW EPISODE!
It's Cartoon Buffoon Friday once again and with the help of @MalcmanIsHere, we talk about a show that broke so much ground for kid's animation that we STILL don't know what to do with it: Kids Next Door!

Had an absolute blast recording this one! This was my first time doing a podcast of any kind, and despite my nervousness going in I quickly got into the groove of things.
It was great to finally see the movie a lot of us worked so hard on up on the big screen, to a packed audience no less! Lotta laughs throughout, and it just looked absolutely fantastic. Hope you all flock to see it once it comes out in February. Go support classic animation!
Wak! Presenting "Donald Duck: The Ultimate History": JB Kaufman's and my second giant-size @TASCHEN adventure, edited by fellow Disney scholar Daniel Kothenschulte. It's on sale in Europe now, Stateside in November—the results of five years' hard work! https://t.co/F219kjW9lS
With the announcement of my exclusive Patreon feature, "Bob McKimson, The 1940s," here's something really fun to tide you over.

"Fool Coverage" (1952)
Rod Scribner is the MVP of this entire cartoon, hands down. Even with dwindling budgets (which hit McKimson's unit the hardest), he animates with a level of zeal that elevates the whole short.
I’m shaken up. Bolhem was widely considered one of the best living animators. We all looked up to him and he turned out to be a horrific monster. He was still working for years without anyone knowing he had a first conviction in 2014. He might only get 20 years. This story should be bigger so he doesn’t end up around people again without them knowing.
Today's animator breakdown of Disney's BAMBI contains the fall and winter scenes. The pencil animation here is by Phil Duncan, who later on became the supervising animator of WATERSHIP DOWN three decades later. (Sourced from the Disney Blu-Ray release.)

This was one of my bits! I know Alex Kirwan really wanted to do a Porky short in the late 30’s Tashlin style, so this was my way to let us have a split second realization of his dream. So much fun to board, and of course Tyler Pacana knocked it out of the park animating it all!
Not a Sublo and Tangy Mustard episode, but close-- SubparGeekGirl96 is back with her full coverage of the convention where she met them! link to full video in reply
It's great to see that my film restoration work can now be viewed on @StreamOnMax. Major props to @cartoonsonfilm for curating this collection of rare silent cartoons created by Paul Terry, later known for Mighty Mouse and Heckle and Jeckle.
