Things are rough.
But my last 2 unvaccinated home care patients are getting vaccinated. So thankful that they will be more protected🙏🏼. And 2 med students witnessed/ shared this joy!
Don’t think I said much differently today.
Keep asking, keep discussing.

Great work by @BMCimRES ‘s first PRIMER (NIH R38-funded research training program) resident Dr. Feven Ataklte. @FraminghamStudy https://t.co/KPfhdXfOEn
It’s a common misconception that Geriatric Medicine is this ‘endearing’ field, when in reality I feel it holds the most radical, progressive views on patient-centered care.
Use of High-risk Medications Among Lonely Older Adults https://t.co/31A6Yplcpj via @JAMAInternalMed part of @JAMANetwork @AshwinKotwalMD Loneliness was associated with higher pain meds, including opioids, antidepressants, sleep medications, and benzodiazepines!! Yikes!
Can you imagine living in your house for 40+ years and then having someone walk into your hospital room and tell you that you need to move--to a skilled nursing facility or a place that ain't your house--like it's no big deal?
News flash: It's a big deal. Even if you need it.
One reason I love seeing geriatric pts is that I’ll be going along in clinic & suddenly I’m talking to a man who was a student protestor in the Hungarian revolution of 1957. He escaped the Russians by crossing into Austria, found his way to the US and now has great grandchildren
T/F? Patients have to be able to follow commands to participate in a bedside swallow eval? FALSE! They just have to be awake & alert. Our amazing @the_BMC SLP colleagues teach us about the tx & management of pts with dysphagia. We love our IPT @BUgeriatrics! #thisisgeriatrics
We could not be more proud of our fabulous five graduating fellows who are ready to go out & leave their 👣 on the 🌎 of #geriatrics. Congratulations on a wonderful year of successes 🏅 with many more to come. @BUgeriatrics@The_BMC will always be your 🏠. We love you! 💕
Here's our Op-Ed in today's @nytimes on aducanumab calling for a new organization to review drugs after FDA approval that can make evidence-based assessments of their clinical impact for the benefit of patients and to guide care https://t.co/uyKYhifk8y
Not surprised @US_FDA approved aducanumab, a drug that so far has failed to show benefit in Alzheimer’s disease. Shows that evidence doesn’t really matter. We should go back to all failed phase III trials, pick a random time-point, find a positive signal, and seek approval.
