Enterprise Whales Transfer Newly Acquired Altcoin to Major Exchanges
In a significant development in the cryptocurrency market, large institutional whales, who received a substantial amount of a particular altcoin from its developers, have begun transferring these tokens to major cryptocurrency exchanges.
Notably, five addresses have transferred a staggering 21,683,871 MATIC, valued at approximately $16.09 million, to the prominent cryptocurrency exchange Binance via GSR Markets. This move comes just nine days after these MATIC tokens originated from a distribution by Polygon Ecosystem Development.
Since receiving MATIC from Polygon Ecosystem Development on November 16, 41 out of 70 addresses have sent a total of 125.6 million MATIC (worth $109 million) to various platforms including Binance, Coinbase, OKX, Bitfinex, and Galaxy Digital OTC.
Additionally, FTX and Alameda addresses transferred 22.6 million MATIC (valued at $17.2 million) to Coinbase and FalconX, just four days prior, on November 21, 2023.
The total value of MATIC tokens distributed to institutional investors on November 16 amounts to $197 million, with a total of $109 million already being transferred to centralized exchanges to date.
An examination of MATIC's tokenomics reveals that 23.33% of the total anticipated supply is allocated for the ecosystem fund, indicating a strategic focus on enhancing and expanding the Polygon ecosystem. This distribution and subsequent transfer to exchanges could signal a significant shift in market dynamics for MATIC and potentially impact its price and liquidity in the near term.
