Dell’s share price soared by 35%, reaching a record high on Friday after it reported that demand for its AI servers increased more than eightfold in its first quarter. Hello @amazonIN an important pre-paid parcel says delivered since yesterday, apparently left in mail room but it never did reach me when I did get two other parcels I had ordered yesterday. Nvidia reported record revenues of $81.6bn in the first quarter—a rise of 85% on a year ago—beating analysts’ expectations. Revenue from its data centre business rose by 92% in the same period, to $75.2bn. The chipmaker’s earnings have become a bell-weather for the artificial-intelligence business. It forecast revenues of $91bn for the second quarter.

Humanoid robots could replace almost two-thirds of China’s shrinking labour force over the next decade, according to a report by Barclays. The British bank estimates that by 2035 China will have deployed 24m robots, equivalent to 4% of its labour force. They could do much of the work in the giant manufacturing sector. The country’s population is expected to decline by 37m by then.
