Today the Mukuru Community Justice Centre team worshipped with the congregation at PEFA Church in Kware. As we celebrate Easter this is an important occasion to reflect on hope, justice and the power of community. The church provided a meaningful platform to engage with residents on solidarity, human rights and the need to stand together against injustice. Spaces like these strengthen our collective voice as we continue to support survivors and demand accountability.

Today, I received the heartbreaking news of the passing of our father, Raila Odinga.
I am deeply shocked and in disbelief — the great tree has fallen.
As someone who grew up in Kibera, Raila Odinga was more than a leader; he was Baba — a father figure who inspired hope and courage in millions. His vision and sacrifice shaped generations and gave voice to the voiceless.
In this difficult moment, I urge Kenyans across the country to remain peaceful and respectful as we mourn this monumental loss together.
My heartfelt prayers go out to his family. May God grant them strength and comfort.
May our father’s soul rest in eternal peace.

Seth Oluoch, a young activist from Mukuru Kwa Njenga, was arrested after leading peaceful protests against the forced evictions of Wapewape Market traders.
After being charged and released, DCI re-arrested him on trumped-up murder charges , a clear case of criminalizing youth who stand for truth and justice.
Seth urgently needs legal representation.

Tonight at 9:00pm EAT, I will be moderating the “𝐁𝐨𝐥𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐂𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐥 𝐒𝐨𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐭𝐲” session at the @ClintonGlobal.
As governments retreat from providing critical services, the role of civil society is more vital than ever. Local organizations and leaders are stepping up to deliver health, education, and peacebuilding while also demanding transparency and accountability for marginalized communities.
I will be joined by Nancy Lindborg (Packard Foundation), Binaifer Nowrojee (Open Society Foundations), and Dr. Aaron Motsoaledi (Health Minister, South Africa) to discuss how philanthropy, grassroots actors, and governments can come together to strengthen civic engagement and build more sustainable, inclusive societies. #UNGA80

Congratulations to @MAGsaveslives on winning the 2025 Conrad N. Hilton Humanitarian Prize!
This recognition highlights that true peace requires concrete action to save lives, reduce suffering, and protect human rights.
Having grown up in Kibera, I've seen firsthand how critical safety and security are for community development. MAG's work demonstrates that even in the most challenging environments, positive change is possible.
To the @hiltonfound thank you for recognizing this important mission.

Earlier today, I was pleased to join the Kenya Riders and Owners Boda Boda Sacco during their meeting in Kibera. I’m inspired by their dedication to improve their lives through savings, and unity.
Through @ShofcoSacco, we are going to empower the riders by offering loans at just 6% per annum to help them grow and expand their businesses.
Asante sana @EUAmbKenya We were honored to host you at the National Forum on Culture for Peace and Sustainable Development.
