There are random people everywhere who make good BBQ, but NY has no tradition or culture of BBQ at all.

It does have a strong grilling culture. Many people grill outdoors all year, even in the snow.

But grilling is not BBQ!

Filming 1st impressions of this Shibata Koutetsu Boss Bunka (220x60mm in stainless-clad SG2/R2). Spoiler... like its little 140mm ko-bunka cousin, this is a *good* tool. Like... *really* good.

The fruity caramel of the figs was good but subtle in this. Next move: take the figs out of the drink, get deeper fig flavor from dunking Newtons

Banana, fig jam, and pumpkin spice on bread. Decent start, but the flavors don't have a central anchor & the spices are too fast

Fat will slow the spices down & should act as a bridging background

Tweaks to try next: butter on the bread, coconut cream mixed into the jam, kaya
