Randomly caught the end of The Golden Girls S3E12 “Charlie’s Buddy” today. Sophia listens to the overture of La Traviata on the radio & mentions Pavarotti singing live at The Met. Did that actually happen in ‘87…?
@MetOpera is broadcasting La Traviata today. #GoldenGirls
A satirical American ‘Squid Swap’ sketch is serendipitous homage to #CephalopodWeek & #SquidSquad in Comedy of the Week’s rebroadcast of @JohnFinnemore’s Souvenir Programme s8e3 @ 11:59.
Great inadvertent collaboration between @BBCRadio4, @scifri & @WNYC…

Progress on refolding the blue-ringed octopus to celebrate the end of #CephalopodWeek w/ a more efficient & elegant design. On the right, see 8 flaps that will form the arms. Can I finish b4 the day & celebrations are over…?

Origami Blue-Ringed octopus details. Much less deadly than the real thing… This paper even has a wet shimmer from mica. 🐙

Will refold w/ a more elegant design than a blinzed frog base. Any suggestions? Using hand-altered O-gami paper. #BritishOrigami
Today I just finished my #PhD in the @ICMCSIC. A very special day surrounded by my beloved people. My girlfriend took care of the #squid decoration and #octopus cake! 😻🐙🎂 #cephalopod
Me: Happy Cephalopod Week.
Him: Cephalowhat...? Is that some kind of drug?
Me: Nooo... it’s the group of animals that includes octopuses and squids et al...
Him: Oh. I don’t eat seafood.
Me: 🤦♂️🙄

@DrSlothulu@scifri It’s made from a blintzed frog base. There are many octopus models using this base but this specific design is a famous one published by Peter Engle.
@scifri Thanks. Probably going to use this design to refold my old blue-ringed octopus paper. Ironing the paper flat now. May have a brand-new octopus in a few hours…
@maxhummus@scifri Of course. The color should have given it away. From a short distance, the strong contrast on the suckers makes them pop like they had been added with a pencil eraser dipped in white paint. Great optical illusion of texture.
Love it and the simple elegant details. Did you use a positive or negative stencil? I just TW a linocut octopus from a couple years ago. @scifri should organize an art show for next year’s #CephalopodWeek. #SquidSquad
