I’m always excited by the possibilities of free-flowing layouts and unconventional paneling.
Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t.
Looking back, there are definitely moments where the flow gets messy or hard to follow, and I always try to keep readability in mind. But experimenting is still part of the fun and I’d rather try something ambitious and imperfect than never push the format at all.
Let me gush about paneling for a bit 🧵1/9

I grew up longing for stories that focus on same-sex friendships that are meaningful and completely platonic, so I became a manga artist and I’ve been writing a series about exactly that.
No labels and no expectations. Just a soulful bond.
Please read it
This year, my manga Grey is..., which I started 15 years ago won the Bronze Award at the 18th International Manga Award,
a thing that came out of nowhere at a time I’d been referring to as my “giving up” arc.
I went to Japan and I gave a talk about AI in the creative field and the importance of the creative journey for artists.
I used "The Hero's Journey" and "ki-sho-ten-ketsu" narrative structures to explain how using AI can feel like a hero’s journey that begins and ends at the same time; missing the twists, turns, and ultimately, the growth that comes from the process.
Let's begin the new year with the intention of living the process.
The last day of November.
Day 60 of asking you to follow their journey.
They began on the roof of an abandoned building, taking a leap, and it’s been a ritual ever since.
Another small jump forward on a long, messy path to healing.
