Coercion & gaslighting are cultures that also need to be addressed and eliminated in @churchofengland if we want our church to be safe. @BishopNewcastle's disclosure of letter re Sentamu is a first step. #Makin #JohnSmyth Read blog by @MartineOborne here

“You can’t run a family, let alone a country, without [character]. How foolish to believe that a person who lacks honesty and moral integrity is qualified to lead a nation and the world!”

These are the words of James Dobson, a prominent US evangelical leader. They were written in the wake of President Bill Clinton’s abuse of power in sleeping with the Whitehouse intern Monica Lewinsky.

Franklin Graham, wrote in the Wall Street Journal about Clinton’s affair with Lewinsky, and criticised US voters for succumbing “to the notion that what a person does in private has little bearing on his public actions or job performance, even if he is the president of the United States.”

The lack of challenge to Donald Trump from these same groups looks like hypocrisy to many. The call for integrity sounds hollow. It looks like as though power is all that matters.

Our amazing members - both men & women - who want equality in @churchofengland are working hard to collate all the evidence that shows the many ways that the current institutional discrimination is not working in addition to being unjust, unbiblical & unsafe. Pls help if you can.
