We are looking forward to presenting our research at @WAPOR one week from today! Can't wait to connect with others at Sungkyunkwan University in Seoul, Republic of Korea! #WAPOR24#AbortionAttitudes#PublicOpinionResearch
New research in @JAMAHealthForum finds an abrupt increase in permanent sterilization procedures among US adults ages 18-30 following Dobbs.
The post-Dobbs ⬆️ in sterilizations for female patients was nearly double the pre-Dobbs rate. https://t.co/BUGCRJC5v5

@SRSPJournal (3/4) While nearly half of one sample (42.2%) completed the survey prior to the #Dobbs decision announcement, we did not find meaningful effects of the decision announcement on people’s knowledge and attitudes.
@SRSPJournal (2/4) People were generally unaware of the Mississippi law, the #Dobbs v. Jackson case, and implications associated with the decision (e.g. overturning #RoevWade). People generally endorsed #Abortion being legal at 15 weeks or later, but this varied by circumstance.
(1/4) Were people aware of the MS law leading to the #Dobbs decision? Were they aware of the implications (overturning #RoevWade)? What are peoples attitudes toward #Abortion at 15 weeks gestation? Read our article in

@SRSPJournal@B_L_Crawford@KNJozkowski (3/3) Increased abortion-related social media reactions lasted approx. 7 days before returning to baseline levels. Declining coverage about overturning #RoevWade, and by extension social media reactions, holds implications for other social issues that may be heard before #SCOTUS.
@SRSPJournal@B_L_Crawford@KNJozkowski (2/3) We found that social media reactions to overturning #RoevWade were largely negative. LDA and S-BERT topics indicated mostly unease at SCOTUS’ actions and changes to #AbortionAccess, though we also observe some support for #SCOTUS and its decision.
@iusphb @KNJozkowski@PSRHjournal The study findings show:
💬 The complexities of abortion access and people's beliefs.
💻 A need for more education about abortion laws, policies, and access, particularly as abortion access is becoming more difficult for some.
