This week, in Cape Town, South Africa, I represented the Immunization Technical Support Unit, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, India, at the 15th International Rotavirus Symposium. I spoke on the impact of Rotavirus Vaccination on improving malnutrition in children in India.
The Immunization Action Group (IAG) met in New Delhi today to review progress under the Universal Immunization Programme (#UIP) and accelerate efforts to ensure every child is protected against vaccine-preventable diseases (#VPDs).
Chaired by Smt. Aradhana Patnaik, Additional Secretary & Mission Director (NHM), @MoHFW_INDIA, the meeting brought together Mission Directors and senior officials from 22 States/UTs, along with Gavi and development partners.
Discussions focused on Measles-Rubella elimination, reaching Zero-Dose children, strengthening immunization coverage, reviewing Village Action Plans, and identifying state-specific challenges and solutions to improve last-mile vaccine delivery.

Grateful to @sbi_yfi Fellowship for a truly life-changing year. It laid a strong foundation in public health and shaped my perspective. It continues to influence my approach in the national immunization program. Let us not forget the “public” in public health!

What does healthcare look like where access itself is a challenge?
Dr. Pretty Priyadarshini’s (@know_Dr_Pretty) journey through the SBI Youth for India Fellowship shows how health systems are shaped as much by communities as by institutions.
During her Fellowship, she designed and implemented PRAYAS, a community health initiative that encouraged women to engage more actively in conversations around safe motherhood, hygiene, and reproductive health, not just as beneficiaries, but as participants in change.
Today, she continues to contribute to India’s public health landscape through her work in the National Immunization Programme, carrying forward lessons rooted in lived realities.
This World Health Day, her journey reminds us that stronger health systems begin with understanding the communities they are meant to serve.

In 2008, a curious 9-yr-old overheard his sisters talking about @DexterityGlobal. He recalls asking, "What IS this Dexterity?"
Five years later, he graduated from DexSchool and soon became my Chief of Staff. In 2015, he went to college in the US on a full scholarship as a Dexterity to College fellow and continued to work across two timezones as a dedicated organization man.
This year, Swaraj started his post-graduate studies at @Harvard. Tomorrow, as we celebrate his 26th birthday, we recognize half of his life has been spent at Dexterity. Happy Birthday, Chief! ❤️
