Disheartened for Black Boys across America. You can be walking home, having your back turned, or sitting down minding your business and they will still find a way to make you a villain. Prayers for little Black Boys are needed because their lives are looked at as disposable.
In the 1930s, average rent was $18 a month. At $0.25/hour, you could pay rent in 72 hours of work. Today, to pay $1000 rent at the federal minimum wage of $7.25/hour, you gotta work 138 hours.
The whole rent prices conversation just reminds me how this society is heavily individualistic. A lot of people measure their success on how many people are worse off than them.
they want you to abandon yo class solidarity if you fortunate enough to make it out them trenches. they want to use yo story to push more class division by making you forget where you came from & shit on the next person tryna come up via the same path. we are better than that.
