@tomglasson I can’t seem to figure these replies out - hopeless at social media as you can tell! But hopefully these all came thru in the right order with some semblance of meaning!
@tomglasson But anyway, most importantly, sending all our love and prayers for you guys and your special little one, and hope we can share a beer together sometime in 2022.
@tomglasson I think there’s a false dichotomy between accepting this thing isn’t going away, and consigning people to needless illness and suffering. I wish we’d spent even a fraction of the hundreds of billions spent on lockdowns etc on bolstering our health system for this eventuality.
@tomglasson My weary POV on all this is a purely political one, and politics is such a blunt instrument; there are always people suffering at the end of it.
@tomglasson Oh god that’s awful mate I’m so sorry. What an idiot I am blundering into something intensely personal and harrowing. Sending you guys love and prayers.
@tomglasson Yes but most people are low risk with this now mate. NSW Covid hosp rate is 0.85%, case fatality rate is 0.27% which means that the true IFR, at a fraction of that, is probably less than it is for the flu. Besides, what would you do? More lockdowns? Worked out so well last time…
@clmazin you’ll have had this q 1m times, but the language device (full English/English accents), rather than detracting from the experience, kind of enhances the unsettling otherworldliness of #ChernobylHBO. I’m sure it was more pragmatic than anything, but was that a factor?
@adamzwar@johnnyjohnleary@GabeDowrick@StanAustralia Yeah I couldn’t believe you guys didn’t know each other either! Very polite and respectful Twitter all round btw. Who said old fashioned values were dead?
