Gandalf, whose true name is Olórin, is a Maia of the Ainur; in essence, an immortal spirit. During his battle with the Balrog in Moria, his physical body, his old man guise as an Istar, was destroyed, meaning what we call “death” for him was only the end of his physical form. His spirit was cast beyond time and space, outside the bounds of Arda.

At this point, it is not the Valar who intervene. Gandalf’s mission is not yet complete, and his sacrifice triggers a higher authority that surpasses even the Valar’s jurisdiction: Eru Ilúvatar himself. Eru calls him back from the Timeless Halls and sends him once again to Middle-earth.

For a Maia, taking physical form again requires great sacrifice and power. In this rebirth, Gandalf does not merely return; he is restored with even greater strength and elevated to leadership among the Istari. Taking the place of the fallen Saruman, he becomes Gandalf the White, now endowed with higher authority to complete his task.

His spirit is returned naked to the peak of Zirakzigil, where he is reborn anew. He is then found and rescued by Gwaihir the Eagle and carried to Lothlórien, where he is fully healed. This transformation marks him as no longer just a guide, but one of the direct instruments of divine will in the war against Sauron.

It is important to note that the Old World was intentionally destroyed by the Great War and its consequences

~20% of Old Etonians, essentially the British aristocracy and gentry, was killed in WWI

Not only was that a massive human toll, but it wreaked financial havoc. Many families had handed off the estates to the heirs by 1914, so as to avoid the onerous death taxes created by the People's Budget and Parliament Bill.

When those sons died in the trenches, the families were hit by the ~65% death taxes instituted during the war, and had to try to pay them by selling off the family lands and assets at depressed wartime prices. Yet worse, the assets then went to the parents, so to then hand them off to the next heir would likely mean double death taxes, particularly if the parents died of a broken heart before the gift strategy could be utilized

All in all, that meant huge amounts of land were sold off during and after the war, and the funds largely went, if not to the Exchequer, then to the bond market, as reliable incomes were needed and government bonds had long been a safe haven

Then those funds were wiped out in value by inflation--something Keynes explicitly championed as a benefit of inflationary monetary policy--and the landed elite was further crushed by its government

So, even before World War II began, which was even more crushing for much the same reasons, the pillars of the Old World and high civilization had been effectively destroyed. A huge wartime death toll, high inflation, and sky-high death and income taxes had wiped it out

Those hurt the most, both in the per capita death toll and the financial disaster, were the ones who had upheld the old order. They were crushed, and wiped away. The old civilization died, and the egalitarian, democratic world in which we now live is largely the result of that rather than what came before the Great War or what came with WWII

....that we’re living in a police state.

Kenny , Yesterday I bought some flowers online to be sent to a friend who was feeling unwell and who lives in a distant part of the country. My message on the flowers read ‘Get well soon’.
With Digital ID I would just have given the Government the name and address of someone who might be suspected of having an illness and who then could be subject to an unsolicited health inspection or called in for an examination or treatment with a mandatory ‘vaccine’ or face the threat of a reduction of their social credit score. Please think about this before it is too late.
Or are you someone who has blind faith in this Government and every Government yet to come ?
