In case you missed H.E. @edwinsifuna's weekend speeches, here is a free summary for you;

1. H.E. decried the heavy tax burden on Kenyans imposed by the Ruto regime, and vowed to scrap the Housing Levy when elected next year. He lamented the implementation structure of affordable housing, in which citizens fund a project where the collector of the tax is also the biggest supplier of materials for the project.

2. Development is great, but all development must be preceded by governance within the rule of law. If citizens were too choose between shiny development projects and living in an environment of freedom of justice, the choice would be easy.

3. The cost of energy is stunting national growth and he has vowed to review the costing structure. "Niko na deni yenu, hata nikipunguza being ya makuta by 10 bob, nitakuwa nimerudisha mkono".

4. Campaign funding as a means to secure a credible rule without shadowy encumbrances; H.E. reiterated that he would run a campaign funded by the masses and free of influence from criminal enterprises. At stopovers in Sikhendu, Kamukuywa, Kimilili, Chwele, Kanduyi and at Posta Grounds, through the Kitale-Bungoma blitz, residents conducted impromptu harambees to support and own the campaign, giving as little as 10 bob, in amazing scenes that drew public emotion.

5. He thanked Governor @GeorgeNatembeya and MPs @HonWamboka and Hon Majimbo Kalasinga for the unwavering support and for helping spread the Linda Mwananchi Gospel in Western before many believers came on board. In a special way, H.E vowed that he would never let both the team and the people down.

6. State capture is a cancer that needs to be eradicated. National institutions have been captured by the regime in a way that compromises national values, violates the constitution and hurts the wellbeing of citizens. In less than 12 months, he swore to slay the ugly dragon of state capture for good.

7. The opposition would ultimately field one presidential candidate in 2027 and any attempts to divide them would fail flat. He repeated previous sentiments that after travelling the entire country with Linda Mwananchi, the team couldn't find any part of the nation that wanted to vote for @WilliamsRuto. He urged citizens to unite beyond tribe and creed and send Ruto home in August next year, the date of the ultimate third liberation.

8. At Posta Grounds, H.E. revisited his childhood in the same neighbourhood as a humble son of Bungoma, not knowing that his unsuccessful run in Kanduyi Constituency and then Nairobi Senate in 2017, would precede his surprise rise to ODM SG, Nairobi Senator and Deputy Minority Whip. Having been stripped of some of these titles following the demise of Baba Raila Odinga, H.E. quoted the book of Joel 2:25, which promises to restore the years that the locusts have eaten.

9. The level of despondency among citizens brought about by a regime known only for unemployment, goon culture, police brutality and a high cost of living, is unacceptable. H.E. promised that at the very least, his government from 2027 would respect constitutional freedoms and human rights.

10. Thanked the residents of Trans Nzoia and Bungoma counties for the overwhelming and tumultuous welcome, promising to repay the love by helping restore both counties to their previous status as a national food basket, strengthening agriculture, opening up markets for their produce and resurrecting collapsed industries like Nzoiq Sugar Company. He vowed never to forget the love shown to him by the residents.

Kenyans shouldn't begrudge Sen Sifuna for his meteoric political rise. We should instead celebrate it. It's always a good thing when a young man gets a break in politics or any career for that matter and thrust himself into the national limelight. Remember, Sifuna hasn't elbowed anyone. He simply claimed a space that was empty since Hon. Kijana Wamalwa died two decades ago. For too long, Western was bereft of a political heavyweight that sat at the national table as of right. Sifuna seems to be the new kid on the block. And to be fair to the young man, his appeal goes beyond Luhya land.
