Russia is huge too. Eleven time zones, and much of it has almost nobody living there. Size by itself doesn’t tell you much.
Put Texas over central Europe, and you’re not comparing it to empty wilderness. You’re covering one of the most densely populated and economically productive regions on Earth. Roughly 120 to 150 million people live within that footprint, depending on exactly where you draw the outline.
Driving six hours in Texas often means you’re still in Texas. Driving six hours in that part of Europe can take you through two or three countries, dozens of cities, and tens of millions of people. The geography and population density are completely different. Comparing the two as if they’re equivalent misses the point.
You’re missing the point completely.
The goal isn’t to haul groceries, furniture and shopping bags around all day. That’s not what walkable cities are about.
If we’re buying a week’s worth of groceries, clothes or furniture, we drive to a shopping centre too.
The point is everything in between. Being able to walk to a café, meet friends, take the kids to school, grab a coffee, sit in a park, stop by the bakery, or go out for dinner without getting into a car every single time.
Americans seem to think Europeans spend their lives carrying shopping bags up four flights of stairs. We don’t.
The real difference is lifestyle. In much of America you’re either at home, at work, or in the car travelling between the two. That’s the part many people don’t find appealing. Walkable cities create public life, not just a different way to buy groceries.
This was Hollywood scale academic fraud. Patients with a disabling condition (ANCA+ vasculitis) were treated with an ineffective drug, in the name of profit. Serious jail time is not only deserved but necessary to deter others.
A young Swedish father has been murdered in Copenhagen while watching the football match between Sweden and France on a big screen. The Danish police is on it and has released this photo of the guy who knocked him to the ground. Witnesses describe how a gang of eight then stomped on his head when he was down.
This piece of shit and his fellow piece of shit murderers will serve long prison sentences and will then probably be forbidden to ever set foot in our country again. But that is not going to give the two little Swedish girls their father back.
I believe all of Denmark would like to send their condolences to this beautiful innocent family.
Something to consider in scenarios like this is that Europe has very little ability for global power projection. Part of it is our chronically underfunded militaries. But another factor is simply geography.
Europe is geographically isolated from the supply chains it greatly depends on. Europe is dependent on global supply chains for fuel or raw materials. And we have very little ability to protect these trading lanes right now. We still depend on the US. And the US is increasingly a rival, not an ally.
Investing in our militaries will eventually help us secure our supply chains. But power projection remains a challenge. We simply don’t have many options on where to put our military assets, especially near critical choke points. And treaties with foreign countries for foreign military bases are unreliable, as we’ve seen with France and the Sahel.
Reintegrating former colonies could solve all of this. Of course, it would bring population, economic and cultural challenges. That’s why it should be limited to smaller nations.
A country like Cape Verde is so small population wise it would have little impact if reintegrating with Portugal and joining the EU. It’s a fraction of current insane immigration numbers. And the benefits might significantly outweigh the costs. If you look at any map you quickly realize how critical Cape Verde could be.
This is a purely pragmatic way of looking at the challenges of our future.
His father once told him, “Son, farming is in your blood.” 🌾
He believed it with everything he had.
At 26 he took over the family farm — young, hopeful, and ready to work harder than anyone who came before him.
He kept that promise for fifteen years.
Now he’s 41 and looks a decade older.
His hands are split and calloused from the cold. His back seizes up every morning before the day even starts. He’s missed birthdays, school plays, family dinners and anniversaries that can never be replayed.
Every Sunday night his wife does the accounts at the kitchen table.
Last Sunday she sat there for a long time without speaking.
Then she looked up.
“We’re forty thousand pounds down this year.”
After fifteen years of early mornings and late nights, diesel has doubled, fertiliser is up 60%, electricity has tripled… and the price he receives for his wheat is almost exactly what it was in 2015.
He is not lazy.
He is not incompetent.
He is not failing.
The system is failing him.
And every Sunday night his wife still sits at that same table, staring at numbers that only ever seem to get worse.
How long before Britain loses an entire generation of farmers who simply can’t afford to carry on?

The size of the lines waiting for fuel in Russia reached mind-boggling levels. Some regions in Russia are already at the verge of total logistical collapse.
Germany could restart 5 nuclear power plants by 2032, according to a new report by radiant energy group.
This revival program has to happen, Europe cannot stay dependent on American LNG, Russian Gas and Arabian Oil for its energy needs. We need a sovereign European supply!

It should be illegal for medical professionals to work for 24 hours straight. What an absurd practice. We don’t let pilots fly planes for 24 hours straight. Why do we let people who make life and death decisions for total strangers do this?
