As the title track of the Tabernacle Choir's new album, Mack Wilberg’s “We Thank Thee, Lord, for This New Day” takes the form of a prayer of gratitude with lyrics written by David Warner. This short anthem was composed especially for The Tabernacle Choir’s return to live broadcasting in October 2021 after an extended pandemic-related hiatus. Wilberg’s musical setting illustrates both the sobering impact of that challenging period and the quiet hope engendered by a new day and a fresh start. The repetition of the same word at the start of each line—a rhetorical device known as “anaphora”— emphasizes the manner in which every morning can be celebrated as an opportunity for renewal. "This New Day" will be released Friday, May 8th. Pre-save it now at: https://t.co/nnQTX9Vx3E
Peaceful sacred music can enlighten and edify no matter the situation. And it’s not always in a familiar or obvious musical style. In this compilation, newly composed choruses and arrangements sit alongside melodies drawn from classical-music favorites and folk-hymn tunes from 19th-century America, reminding us that inspiration and faith-affirming lessons can edify us through a variety of expressive means. They all offer assurance that when we allow ourselves to be touched and taught by good music, we are better equipped to renew our dedication every day and more closely approach the divine. "This New Day" will be available on Friday, May 8th. Pre-save the full album and single, "Carnival of the Animals: Aquarium", now: https://t.co/nnQTX9Vx3E
Coach Kalani leading BYU Football has been more than just about wins for us—it's a beacon of pride for our Tongan American family… especially for my elderly dad from Tonga, who also strives diligently to rep our islands, the Church, and BYU (c/o 1978). Seeing a fellow Tongan at the helm of a program like BYU, turning it into a Big 12 powerhouse while staying true to his roots - simply unmatched. It's inspired many discussions about resilience, family, and faith. Coach isn't just coaching a team; he's lifting locker rooms and a worldwide Cougar Nation, inspiring generations to come like Coach Lavell did and does. Kalani shows that humble and hungry can indeed thrive anywhere. Coach Sitake embodies humility, faith, and community - not simply values, but a way of life. We need Coach to stay—BYU is better with Kalani's heart leading the way. #KeepKalani
