Issue based voting or ‘Citizen Referendum’ is an important reform to empower people. I was able to convince residents to participate in such an election during agitation to relocate wine shop near Gurumurthy Lane in Begumpet, Hyderabad.
Here is Part 2 of the story of how we succeeded, and got support from people’s government in Telangana.
#CitizenReferendum #BegumpetWineShop
This is not a very complicated scenario. The BJP has only two options:
1. Stand by Amit Shah. Stand by the police action against students. And pay the political price.
2. Sack Amit Shah and save face to some extent.
There is no other way.
Remember the truck full of stones that appeared near the CJP protest site in Jantar Mantar?
@ImAvdheshkumar traced the vehicle with its registration number. It was not a stray truck: the Delhi Police had seized it four days earlier

There can be no filthier type of man than one who defends rapists.
Pralhad Joshi is an insult to our education system and an insult to every student in it. Crores of young women study in the institutions he now oversees.
India’s women will never accept PM Modi’s new Education Minister.
Modi supporters object to language of protestors. Godi media promotes biased people like @ARanganathan72.
But not one word against use of pellet guns against unarmed students, as proven with evidence accessed by @the_hindu@vijaita
Watching this inhumanity are the parents of lakhs of students, who will never again vote for BJP.
Days after Delhi Police denied the usage of pellet guns during the July 20 march to Parliament, in which at least four persons were hit with pellets, a general diary entry filed at Parliament Street police station reveals that the Rapid Action Force (RAF) fired two rounds from an anti-riot gun on the directions of a Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) rank officer of the police.

Erasing history has been a BJP project. But they can’t erase viral insta reels of GenZ protests that have spread across the world.
This boy’s insta account was suspended for singing at Jantar Mantar.
The youth of India have started to take our country back from those who tried to suppress their voice… today is the day an undemocratic and oppressive government was forced to bend to the will of the people of India.
To all you boys and girls who stand unflinchingly for what is right. Don’t ever let your spirit be oppressed, you are the soul of our beautiful nation, stay strong and brave always.
Sahil, 19 years old student of Delhi University, was attacked with pellet guns by Delhi Police. He was holding up the Indian flag. His eye is damaged and has multiple injuries.
On behalf of thousands of such youth, Shri @RahulGandhi made 3 demands:
Resign @dpradhanbjp
Action against attackers.
Apologise Narendra Modi.
What do you mean ‘significantly impact their academic progress and professional opportunities’?
Stop threatening students and fight for them instead.
As a former student of this great university, I am deeply disappointed by such cowardice.
Dear students and faculty, your safety matters to us. Please note that any unlawful assemblies or demonstrations at Jantar Mantar, New Delhi, which are strictly regulated as per the directives of the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India, may invite legal action. Such activities can also pose serious risks to students’ personal safety and significantly impact their academic progress and professional opportunities. Accordingly, all students are urged to stay away from Jantar Mantar and to prioritise their safety and compliance with the law. Furthermore, you are advised to exercise caution as a significant amount of fake and misleading content is being created and circulated to fuel the situation.
I have moved an Adjournment Motion under Rule 267 in the Rajya Sabha, demanding an immediate discussion on the systemic destruction of our education system and the excessive use of police force against protesting students on 20 July.
The lives and future of India's youth are indispensable and non-negotiable. No minister in this government is.
Dharmendra Pradhan and Amit Shah must resign. Prime Minister Narendra Modi must be held accountable his criminal indifference towards the future of our country.
This blood of our leader will not be forgotten. Or forgiven.
@RahulGandhi ji assaulted, @priyankagandhi ji detained and scores of students beaten and dragged by police outside PM’s residence in Delhi.
As I take oath as a Member of Parliament in the Rajya Sabha today, I wish to express my heartfelt gratitude to the Chairperson of the Congress Parliamentary Party, Smt. Sonia Gandhi, Hon'ble Congress President, Shri Mallikarjun @kharge. Their exemplary public service and constant guidance continue to inspire generations of Congress workers.
My sincere thanks also to the Leader of the Opposition, Shri @RahulGandhi, Lok Sabha MP Smt. @priyankagandhi, General Secretary (Organisation), Shri @kcvenugopalmp, and General Secretary, Communications, Shri @Jairam_Ramesh, whose encouragement and faith has made it possible for me to continue my work with passion and purpose.
I must also earnestly thank my wife, @KotaNeelima, whose strength and support have made this long and reflective journey of politics possible.
I remember my parents and my younger sister, Rupam, who I know are blessing me from heaven.
I will strive to discharge my responsibilities with sincerity, humility and an unwavering commitment to the Constitution of India.
Jai Hind!
Hearty congratulations, @Pawankhera ji, on taking oath as a Rajya Sabha MP. Wishing you a successful tenure—. I am confident you will be a powerful voice for the people in Parliament. Best wishes!
@KotaNeelima
